Something was wrong. Lana could feel it in the air. Was she in the wrong bed? No. Was she on the wrong side of the bed? No, it wasn't the bed. It was silent.
"Lucy, are you awake?" Lana said.
No reply. She opened her eyes. No one was in the bed next to her.
"Lucy?" Lana said, starting to panic.
She jumped out of bed and ran outside.
"Lucy! This isn't funny!" Lana said. "and please don't be where I think you are."
She ran to the beach, no Lucy in sight.
"This is bad, this is bad, this is really really bad!"
Lana walked towards the caves.
"Lucy, if you are dead, I'm gonna kill you!"
She ran inside. She didn't know where she was going. She was just gonna wing it. She called out Lucy's name every three seconds. She saw light. Was she dead? No, it was just a candle. She was in Sigmund's home, wasn't she?
She called out one last time, "Lucy?" She regretted it instantly.
"That's one of the humans!"
"I told you they'd be back."
She ran into the twisting caverns. She was saving her skin, gosh dang it! She would have never made it out alive if it wasn't for Lucy.
"Lana, are you alright?" Lucy asked.
Lana jumped. "How did you get here?!"
"I walked."
"How did the sea monsters not see you?"
"Sigmund showed me where to go. Now come on! we have to go save him!"
Lana followed close behind Lucy. Twists and turns, ups and downs, lefts and rights! Finally, they had a look into the cave.
"Don't worry Sweet Mama, we're gonna catch those humans." the short one (probably Sigmund's father, come to think of it.) said.
"Please, don't hurt them!" Sigmund said helplessly.
"and what are you gonna do about it?" Sigmund's father said before running off.
"Now, sweetie, I have other business to attend to. Stay here." The woman sea monster said.
"They seem dangerous." Lana whispered.
They tiptoed into the cave, trying to sneak past the lady sea monster. They sneaked up behind Sigmund.
"We've come to rescue you!" Lucy whisper-yelled.
"No! you guys shouldn't be here! I don't want anyone getting hurt!"
"Not a chance, buddy. You're our friend! and that's what friends do."
"almost get each other killed?"
"No! save each other!"
"oh."
They grabbed Sigmund by the tentacles and started to leave when...
"Well, well, well. The humans have come to take my little Sigmund away."
The lady sea monster was a good six feet tall. the girls were only as high as her chin would be, if she had a chin.
"oh, shiitake mushrooms." Lana whispered.
Sigmund grabbed the girl's hands and ran with the girls in tow. They ran deeper into the caves. They had lost the other sea monsters, for now.
"We can't fight them! they're too strong!" Sigmund said.
An idea popped into Lucy's head. "Lana, do still have that baseball bat?"
"Always do! but why do you ask? The bat isn't strong enough to be used as a weapon."
"Yes, but your bat is made of foam. there are stalagmites everywhere! We can stick the stalagmites into the foam!"
"Will that even work?"
"If it doesn't, we're dead."
That was enough for them all to start picking stalagmites from the ceiling. Finally, they were done.
"you know what to do, right?"
"hit em' till they give up." Lana said.
"now that was a good hero voice."
