CRASH! BANG! "GIRLS!"
This was the sound that made Lucy know she was in deep trouble. It was Aunt Penny. The girls ran outside to find Aunt Penny on the ground, screaming her lungs out. She had fallen into one of their traps. The trap in question was a garden hose tied to a couple of trees.
"Did you girls set this up?" Aunt Penny asked.
"It was Lana's idea." Lucy blurted out, trying to save her skin.
"Lana, were you trying to kill me?"
What was Lana to do? Aunt Penny was pretty scary when she was mad! She couldn't tell the truth. They'd lock Sigmund up, like in E.T.! But she couldn't lie either, she was a terrible liar. What was she to do?
"Lucy, you tell her!" Lana said.
"Well, she was trying to protect the house from gators!" Lucy said, thinking on her feet.
"Gators could crawl right under this. Now, clean up any other traps that might be around here. And next time make sure ya have a net!"
After cleaning up all their hard work, they went back to the clubhouse to ask Sigmund if he had any ideas.
"What if one of you guys dresses up like me and if they kidnap you I could alert the other!" Sigmund said.
"I vote Lana. I'm not going near those sea monsters. Plus she's braver than me."
"No, I'm not, and I really don't want to risk my neck again tonight."
"They're not vampires." Sigmund whispered.
"Well think about me! They'll recognize me!"
"Oh, don't worry! What were they, two miles away? Scarredy cat."
"I am not a scarredy cat!"
"Okay, you're a chicken then."
"I am not a chicken!"
"Guys! Let's settle this with a coin flip!" Sigmund yelled, bringing an end to the argument.
"Heads for I don't go!" Lana said, flipping the coin.
It came up tails. That meant that Lana would be the one to go.
"GOSH DARN IT!"
