"Okay, Kyle," I said with a laugh, remembering the time I nearly lost it on that rogue who dared to sneak onto our land and attack a group of unshifted pups.

My hair had turned pitch black.
I'd snapped—and let's just say, that rogue didn't walk away the same.

"I'll go," I said, tone softening, "but only if you leave before me."

Kyle raised a brow, but nodded. "Fine."

He mind-linked a few of the pack warriors, gave me a firm but warm look, and led them out the front gates.

What will tomorrow bring? I wondered.

I watched them disappear into the trees before heading to my room. I started packing—blades, weapons, clothes, shoes. Anything I might need.

Then I lay down and let sleep pull me under.

Time Skip – The Next Morning

I woke up early and loaded my things into the car. My chest felt tight with nerves.

I hate this.

I hated going back to the Blood Red Pack. To that place that broke me. That made me feel like less than nothing.
But I hated the thought of innocent pups being hurt more.
And I wouldn't let that happen—not while I was breathing.

An hour later, everything was packed. I climbed into the driver's seat.

Alright, old pack. I'm on my way.

It took me about three hours to get there.

When the Blood Red Pack house came into view, my stomach twisted. The place looked exactly the same—big, cold, hollow. Like it never held love to begin with.

I pulled up, parked, and stepped out.

Just like I expected, the entire pack was gathered outside, staring.

I didn't flinch.

I walked straight to Kyle, smiled softly—and kissed him.

That kiss said it all:
I'm not the same girl you threw away.

Then I heard it.

A low, loud growl.

I turned.

Sam.

He looked stunned, like he'd seen a ghost.

I smirked.

"Hello, Sam," I said coolly. "How's life been treating you?"

His eyes widened. He stuttered, completely thrown off.

"J-Jamie... is that really you?"

I tilted my head, letting a cold smile play on my lips.
