Sam's POV – The Truth I Shouldn't Know

Ever since Jamie showed up with her new pack, my life has been one long slap to the face.

First—she's got a new mate. Not just any wolf, but a whole Alpha.
Not only did he mark her, but he's powerful.
There's no chance I could beat him in a fight—not for Jamie. Not for anything.

Then, she humiliated me and Wendy in front of both packs. Had us running face-first into a forcefield like damn cartoons.

To make it worse, she passed out right after—and her wolf had my own wolf, Snake, losing his damn mind with worry.

And now? Now she's gone. Took off into the woods.

And Kyle's hovering over her like she's made of glass.

I hate how jealous that makes me.

Time Skip – One Hour Later

We were in the middle of a pack strategy meeting, trying to figure out how to track Jamie down, when a patrol guard mind-linked me.

Alpha, Jamie just crossed back over the border. She's back.

I stood up immediately. "Jamie's back!" I shouted to the room.

Kyle was out the door like lightning.

I followed slowly... watching from the shadows, hiding in the kitchen like a damn creep just to get a glimpse of her.

She walked in the door, and my heart stuttered.

But she wasn't alone.

Two little kids—one boy, one girl—clung to her hands like she was their world.

Jamie didn't say a word. She took them upstairs.

I was about to follow when Kyle turned and caught me.

His face? Dead serious. Nothing like the chill alpha front he usually wears.

"If you go anywhere near my mate," he said low and cold, "I'll personally kill you—and your whole pack."

I froze.

What in the hell?

Kyle stormed up the stairs after her.

I waited.

Then crept up the stairs too, just close enough to hear Jamie talking. She was explaining about the kids... and then I heard it.

Crying.

She was crying.

And my wolf was howling inside my chest. I had to force Snake down with everything I had just to stop myself from bursting in.

I backed away and went down to the kitchen.

I didn't know what else to do.

So I grabbed a bucket of ice cream and ate like it was gonna fix my soul.

Then—I heard footsteps.

Kyle.

He walked past the kitchen, on the phone, pacing.

He didn't even see me.

He was too deep in the call, voice low.

But I heard it.

"I need you to do some dirty work for me," he said.

I froze.

What dirty work?

I crept closer, staying hidden by the corner.

His voice was a whisper—but I caught it.

"Make sure those kids never come back."

My whole body went cold.

Those kids?!

I stood there, stunned. Rage. Shock. Disbelief.

I have to tell Jamie... but she'll never believe me. Not from me. Not about him.

Still—I knew one thing for sure.

If Kyle lays one hand on those kids... he'll have to go through me first.
