When Sam's pack finally dragged themselves to the training field, I did a quick headcount.

Wait... where the hell are two people?

In less than five minutes, two were missing.

I narrowed my eyes and scanned the crowd.

Where could they have gone that fast?

I closed my eyes, focused my energy—then opened them.

Gasps erupted from the group as my aura flared.

"WHO'S NOT HERE?!" I shouted, voice thundering across the field.

"All at once," the pack shouted back, "Alpha Sam and his mate—Wendy!"

Wendy?

Oh.

They must mean Wendy Smiles...

I smirked.

I closed my eyes again, focused on the memory of Sam's bedroom door—and in a blink, I was standing in front of it.

I opened the door slowly.

And yup. There they were.

Sam and Wendy. Naked.

Disgusting.

I rolled my eyes, but then...
That evil smile crept across my face.

I opened a mind-link to Kyle.

"Bring everyone—both packs. Upstairs. Now."

Five minutes later, both packs were crowded in the hall.

Time for a show.

I raised my hand and conjured a glowing force field over Sam's door—no escape today, sweetheart.

Then I shifted—small, fast, and quiet.

A mouse.

I slipped beneath the door, darted across the floor, and waited just long enough for Sam to walk into the bathroom.

Once he was out of sight, I climbed up onto the bed and shifted again—this time into a snake.

I lifted my head and hissed at Wendy.

She looked at me.

And silently bolted straight into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.

Wow, I laughed to myself, Wendy's a silent screamer. Noted.

Then I remembered something important.

Sam's terrified of spiders.

Perfect.

Just as they stepped out of the bathroom together, I slithered toward the edge of the bed... and shifted again.

Into a giant spider.

The second Sam saw me?

He screamed.

And I mean—SCREAMED.
This man hit a full-on Mariah Carey note.

He and Wendy raced for the door, yanked it open—
And slammed face-first into my force field.

The room erupted in laughter from both packs outside.

I shifted back into myself, wiping away tears from my own laughter.

Sam froze, horrified, when he saw it was me—and that everyone had just watched all of it.

I dropped the force field and walked out calmly, brushing imaginary lint off my shoulder.

"Sam," I said sweetly, "next time you wanna skip training... it's gonna be worse."

The whole hallway exploded with laughter. People were crying. Leaning on walls. Bent over.

And just as I stepped away, everything around me—

went black.
