Shai’s POV
Sarah never was good with public speaking, but I was looking forward to her speech. Harry grips my hand tighter and I smile. We could forget everything and move forward, it was alright. I realized that he really did still care for me when he punched John, defending me.
“Well I’m going to start,” Sarah says loudly and everyone quiets down and looks at her standing on the deck. “We are here to celebrate Shai’s success; hard earned success”
“This is embarrassing,” I whisper to Harry and he chuckles.
“Ever since Shai was little she had big dreams, dreams we all laughed at. How could a girl from such a small town make it in Hollywood? Well two years ago Shai got into a very exclusive singing camp, where she also met many wonderful people.
“She came home to return to her normal life her life hasn’t been normal since. When One Direction performed at Madison Square Garden for the first time she was there, and they brought her out to sing. Obviously she had talent and she caught some people’s eyes, Justin Bieber included.” I see Harry look down at me from the corner of my eye and the tension returns.
“It took time but she finally went to LA and had who knows what kind of adventures while recording with the Biebs.” Sarah laughs and I give her a small glare. “Jokes aside, Shai’s new single is awesome and I’m looking forward to the rest of the album. Welcome home and congrats Shai!” everyone starts clapping and I blush.
“Now the important stuff!” I shout and Sarah smiles at me and pulls Trevor close.
“At this time I would also like to tell everyone, those of you I love and care about, Trev?” she stops and smiles at him.
“I love Sarah more than anything, you all know that. We’ve been together for a long time and so we are getting married!” Trevor blurts out and everyone cheers. I was so happy for them.
“It’s about time Trevor!” Hunter shouts and everyone laughs before continuing on chatting. Several people go to congratulate Sarah, and a few come and talk to me. We’re all having a good time but of course something has to ruin it.
“Shaiana darling!” my grandma says loudly and hugs me. I had several problems with what had just happened. 1- she called me Shaiana, not even my real name. 2- I hadn’t seen them coming over so I could avoid them. And 3- she smelled nasty and I didn’t enjoy her hugs.
“Hi grandma,” I say trying to be cheery, and then my grandpa hugs me. “Hi grandpa.”
“Well Shaiana, care to introduce your friend?” my grandma asks a bit rudely.
“Guys I would like you to meet Harry Styles,” what else did I say? “My boyfriend.”
“Wonderful to meet you,” Harry smiles and holds out his hand but they just look at him.
“So you are Harry?” my grandpa asks blankly.
“Uhm, yeah.” Harry says pulling his hand back. Why did this have to happen?
“Hmph, Shaiana Lynn you are something else.” My grandma says and they walk away.
I wanted to shout many things at them, starting with how my name was not Shaiana. They were the rudest people ever.
They didn’t say “good to see you” “how are you?” or “congrats on bringing your dreams to life” no. All I got was judged.
Why? Because I wasn’t Sarah. She was finishing college, engaged to a successful normal guy, and she wasn’t different. I wasn’t even planning on college, I had a three record deal, and my boyfriend was famous.
