This chapter will contain flashbacks and callbacks and is basically one to make you catch up with what has happened in the four month time skip.

Four months.
Four months had gone by. Faster than the wind.

Rick was officially out of the picture when it came to decision making. The people had voted who they wanted to make up the council, Rick having to explain he wasn't a candidate.
The so-called council ended up being constituted by Smith, Daryl, Hershel, Glenn and Carol. Michonne was voted to be there too as she possessed the characteristics of a skilled fighter and thinker but she only made an occasional appearance in the meetings, When she felt like it, or, like most of the time, she stood there listening but asked to be left out of the issue.

The day after taking what was left of the people from Woodbury in, Michonne, Daryl and Smith planned a search for the Governor.
Nor Michonne nor Daryl could settle for the idea that he could just run and get away with what he had done. They wouldn't stand for it. They were the same afterall, Michonne and Daryl, very alike characters.
Smith followed because she felt the need to. She could've ended it, she had her chance but she failed. So she told herself she had to go. Well, that was one of the reasons. The second reason was Daryl. Either she liked it or not, Smith couldn't deny the absurd fact that she felt the urge to follow Daryl Dixon wherever he went. Wherever he'd stray she'd follow.

~3 days after taking the people from Woodbury in:~

"Ya ready?" Dixon questioned, slamming the trunk door shut.
Nova nodded, handing him a backpack. "Yep. Michonne?"
"Ready." She replied.
"How long will you be gone?" Carl Grimes questioned with a hint of concern in his voice.
Smith's lips painted a smirk and she kneeled down in front of the boy. "Not long, buddy."
"I need numbers."
She snorted. "What do you say, Michonne? Two weeks?"
"Maybe." She replied once more. "Take it three with the chances of getting slowed down by walkers every five minutes."
"Three weeks at most." She smiled at the boy who didn't demonstrate the same expression. "It'll go by in the blink of an eye." She finalised, pinching his cheek and getting back up. "Have you talked to any of the kids, yet?"
The Grimes kid looked away as his answer was a clear no.
Smith tilted her head at the reaction. "Give it a chance. Give them a chance. You see that kid?" She pointed behind him. "The one in the polo shirt and glasses?" He hummed in response. "He seems nice."
"He looks like he wouldn't shut up about Earth facts." He smirked at his own comment, indirectly calling the kid a nerd.
Nova muffled down a smile, refusing to laugh at the attempted insult. "His name's Patrick. He's just a couple years older than you. Give him a chance."
He seemed to ponder on it.
"If we come back in three weeks and you don't have a friend, I'll... I-- I will teach you organic chemistry."
He bursted into laughter at her threat.
"What are you laughing at, farmer boy? I'm serious." His laugh stopped abruptly at the nickname. His father had started a small crop field and made his son join in to distract him from everything else going on. Smith smirked at how he had reacted just like she wanted to to her teasing. "For real." She kicked his hat with her index finger. "It made me cry every five minutes in high school. You wouldn't handle it for three minutes, boy."
He smiled lightly and she turned around to be met with a smiling Daryl Dixon- a rare sight.
"And you say you don't like kids." Carol walked by with a couple boxes stacked in her arms, bringing back the comment she had made the day before when she saw some kids playing in the field.
"Not liking kids doesn't mean I'll hit them or be a bitch." She chuckled. "I just don't know how to deal with them. They usually don't like me so I don't like them back. It's a mutual relationship. "
"I like you." Carl said in defence.
"I'm not talking about you, darling." She took the chance to ruffle his hair seeing he had taken the hat off to shake some dust off it.
Carol laughed in disdain. "That's not knowing how to deal with kids? Honey, you're blind."
Nova rolled her eyes with a smile creeping at her lips.
Daryl tapped down on the car roof twice and she turned her head to him. "Let's get going."
Michonne settled in the backseat and Smith was stopped by the Grimes kid just after opening the passengers door. He hugged and squeezed her waist tightly, just where he was about reach. His head reached just below her chest so his face was planted in her stomach.
She was taken aback by his sudden embrace but she rubbed his back and smiled at him nonetheless.
"I'll see you in a couple weeks, farmer boy."
He smiled one last time as she shut the car door closed and waved them off when they were passing the gate.
