Doug's POV

"Okay, clothes, shoes, hair, glasses, flowers, keys, phone. I think I'm ready."

"Awww, wittle Dougie's all gwown up." Lonnie teases, leaning on the door frame, "Now remember she needs to be back by ten and I don't want any funny business young man."

"Ah leave him alone Lon. Guy's nervous enough as it is." Ben says for me to take a breath as Lonnie crosses the room to sit on my bed.

"I'll say. What if we run out of things to talk about? Or what if she gets bored at the show? What if Scowl doesn't like her?"

"Scowl doesn't like anyone, him not liking her shouldn't surprise you." Lonnie says stretching out and relaxing.

"Gee thanks. That makes me feel so much better."

"C'mon Doug you'll be fine. Besides Cass will be there. I'm sure she'll keep things, um, lively?" Lonnie snorts.

"Lively!? The cat paints by dipping her full cat form in dyed cottage cheese."

"Okay, well she'll keep things interesting, and she is closer to Scowl's age. Maybe he'll actually like her." Ben shrugs as he puts on his blazer. Scowl and Cass? Friends? No way. Cass is all sunshine and rainbows, and Scowl is. . . Scowl.

"Anyway, I best go meet up with Jane and claim us a table in the caf. Have fun on your date, Dougie." Lonnie teases before heading out. I sigh, before examining my reflection again.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm sure it'll go fine. C'mon." He says before pulling me out the door. We head down the hall and hear yelling once we get to the girls' dorm.

"Cass get out here so I can push you out the window!" We hear Mal yell before banging on something. We knock, but the door slowly swings ope- what on earth!?!?

The room was full of oranges, cottage cheese once again splattered the walls, some tape was hanging from one of the canopies, stuff was knocked off the desk and dressers, and Mal was banging on the bathroom door yelling for Cass, while covered in cottage cheese too. I turn to Ben who smirks.

"First time?"

"Um, no, but honestly it feels like it." I admit before Evie bounces over. She was in a gorgeous outfit of a red top, black skirt, and gray knee-high boots that went with her burette. It complemented her beautiful blue curls that had been pulled to the side.

"I take it those are for me?" I blink and look at the flowers.

"Oh yes, um," I offer them to her, "I-I didn't know what was best and roses always seem to be everyone's go-to so I, uh, got them for you."

"Thank you, Doug. They were the best choice." She smiles sweetly and takes them.

"Yeah yeah," I jump and turn around to see Cass dressed and ready, "let's go before Pixie realizes the door's unlocked and I'm not in there."

"Um right." I turn and offer Evie my arm, "Shall we?"

"Have fun you three." Ben says before rushing to calm down his girlfriend.

Me, Evie and Cass head down the stairs and out to the school's garage that keeps everyone's cars, carpets, carriages, and whatever else the kids here drive. I open the passenger door for Evie-

"Aww Dougie," Cass purrs, rubbing against my shoulder, "You know just how to treat a queen."

"Um, your welcome?" I respond as she climbs into the rusted truck. I help Evie in before going to my side. I start up the truck and pull out as Cass changes to her cat form and hops on the dash.
