Mal's POV
"Kitten." I hear Evie say before turning to see Cass leaning on her arm again. She bats Evie's hand away but don't bother opening her eyes.
"Cat!" I push her arm down. She shoots up and looks around before shaking the sleep from her head.
"Cass, did you get any sleep last night?" Lonnie questions for Cat to yawn and rub her eyes.
"No. The sugar from the two cat-a-chinos I had while out with Ribbon and Dougie hit and I couldn't get tired enough to sleep."
"Well here. Have some syrup, it'll keep you energized for your first hour. Then you can nap after." I slide her my empty tray that still had some leftover syrup from my pancakes. She changes into Cat mode.
"Good plan but I'm gonna be working with Dude after first hour. I'm still having trouble with mousie instincts."
"You're getting better though. At least that's what I've heard from Gus."
"You can talk to Mousies?"
"Runs in the family." Jane chuckles before turning to E, "So Evie, you were saying?"
"Oh right. Doug and I are planning to go out again possibly sometime next week. Not Friday though."
"Great. I wanted to go over the Halloween decorations." Jane pauses to glare at Lonnie who had snickered.
"Getting the scary bunny out again?"
"Bunny?" Me and Evie say in unison as Jane blushes and Lonnie giggles.
"She got jumpscared by a rabbit at last year's haunted house."
"It wasn't funny."
"It was. That was the best part of the haunted house."
"Are you planning on doing a haunted house this year?" I smirk, "Tell me we're doing a haunted house this year."
"Um, we've thought about it."
"Heck yeah! I love those things! We did 'em all the time back home!"
"Eh, I found them to be childish."
"Don't lie to the preps E. You loved helping with the makeup and decorating. Not to mention it was usually the biggest dance of the year."
"Halloween was? What? Did you guys not have like Prom or Homecoming or anything?" Lonnie questions for me to shrug.
"There was no point to them. The king and queen would just wind up getting egged during their dance. The pike would be sunched. I mean," We chuckle, "The punch would be spiked, there we go, and no one would really go so there was no point. But with Halloween? Whoo!"
"Last years was a blast and the one we had in Wonderland later that night," Cass licks her lips, "It was some boingenanny!"
"Uh, don't you mean hootenanny?"
"No, I mean boingenanny! There were chickapeas everywhere!" She smiles before looking past me. Her eyes widen.
"Well, well, look who got off his leash." We turn and see Ben and Doug. They slide in and ask what we were talking about.
"Spooksaween and how you preppies and pooches are gonna jump outta your fur with what we plan to do!"
"Now Cass, you know we probably won't be going that scary."
"But, it's fun."
"Yes, for us, but they may not like the scars and stuff. Right Jane?" Evie questions. I to the girl in question for her to raise an eyebrow.
