I was currently in Houston visiting my parents for a family reunion. We have one every year for on my deceased grandmother's birthday ever since her death 5 years ago. Since she died the family wasn't close anymore so my grandpa, her husband started having them. He didn't want to be alone on her birthday so having the family packed in one big house always filled his heart with love.

I sat in the living room talking to some of my female cousins, reminiscing of the good ol' days and how we missed having our sleepovers and four way calls. I truly missed them. They kept me up to date on what's been going on since I left and the tea was piping hot. Of course we talked about our love life and how that's been going. You know they had to ask me a million questions.
"Is Mr. Basketball coming?" My cousin Tara asked.
"Which of your 5 current boyfriends is coming?" I shot back in a joking way.
"Yes or no, don't flip this on me." She rolled her eyes.
"No but I wanted him to come meet y'all." I admitted. We've been together for more than a year now and we've yet to meet each others parents. That is so wrong but my parents know how demanding his career is and how he's barely at home so they understand. Me on the other hand has to wait until seasons over for me to meet his folks, or so I thought.
"Girl hook us up with one of his baller friends you know they got money." Tara with her big mouth blurted out.
"Girl, you need to quit."
"Let the whole family get in on that action." Said my other cousin Kim.
"Aren't you engaged?" I laughed. These girls are something else.
"What Josh don't know won't hurt him." All of us burst out in laughter. We continued to joke around as we helped prepare dinner. My other grandma shook her head at some of the things we were talking about and also gave her two cents when she felt like it. My mom and dad were sitting in the kitchen with my uncles and aunts, having grown folks conversation like they said. The reunion and dinner is on Sunday which is two days from now and since most of my family lives like 20 to 30 minutes away, they said they'll come on the day itself and those that live far, including me and whoever was in the house at the moment came days in advance. I came since yesterday (Wednesday).
9:16 p.m.
For the rest of the night after we finished having dinner, we all watched a comedy movie in the living room and you know how family do, talk through the movie, crack jokes and bring up a story from long ago. All in all it was a nice moment since we wait all year for this. When the movie was finished, everyone went to their rooms, calling it a night. Fortunately everyone gets their own room and bathroom cause I cannot share, only with DeMar.
