Reader and several of their friends are trying to read through some books to figure out what the new threat is. Peter is picking on Reader for a crush they have and word soon makes it back around to said crush.

Your POV
I made my way to the large table in the middle of my older brother's apartment and dropped my stack of books loudly onto the wooden surface. Derek set his own stack down gently beside mine and glared at me for making so much noise, "You're going to wake Peter up."

I roll my eyes, "He needs to be up anyway. It's already 4pm." I start a pot of coffee and then lean against the counter and cross my arms over my chest as I glare at the floor.

"Okay, what crawled up your butt and died? I'm supposed to be the grouchy one not you," Derek points out as he joins me in the kitchen and the smell of coffee begins to fill the room. I glare at him and he seems to get the memo as he sighs and grabs a coffee mug out of the cabinet to pour himself some coffee and then returns to the living room. I wait for the pot to fill up some more before pouring my own mug full and leaving the rest to brew for later.

I grab a few particularly interesting looking books from the mountainous stack of them and then make myself comfy on the couch. There is yet another new threat in Beacon Hills and we're trying to figure out what it is which requires research hence the books. It's quiet for a few moments aside from the occasional rustle of pages, that is until the door to the apartment slides opens with a loud grinding sound and Scott, Stiles, Liam, and Mason come bounding into the room. I watch as Derek raises his eyebrow questioningly at Scott who rubs the back of his neck and shrugs, "Aside from Lydia, Stiles and Mason are the biggest nerds we have so I figure you guys could use their help sifting through all this stuff."

"Okay, so why are you and Liam here and not helping Argent?" Derek responds.

"We were but Argent said he needed us to leave him alone because I'm, and I quote, 'too helpful and Liam keeps getting distracted.'" Scott answers.

I snicker at Argent's on point description of Scott's and Liam's levels of helpfulness and turn my attention back to the book on my lap. "Alright, the coffee pot is currently about half full. Your job is to brew a new pot any time it gets empty," Derek pauses to turn to Liam, "Liam, please just try to keep yourself occupied and don't piss (Y/N) or Mason off. Stiles, you can use that wall as a cork board if you need to," he adds pointing to the wall across the room from me, "but do not rip anything out of these books. Pretend they all belong to the library and are priceless artifacts." With that, everyone set to work.

It's relatively quiet for a good bit until I hear someone walk up behind me and lean on the back of the couch, "Good morning, my favorite of my sister's children."

"First of all, it's already 5pm. Second, of all, go away. You're not my favorite person today," I respond, not even looking up from my book.

"I'm not your favorite person on any day. That little spaz stringing yarn all over our living room wall is your favorite person," Peter says quietly. I mentally face palm for walking right into that one and turn around to shove him away. Surprisingly, he actually leaves me alone and giggles his ass off the entire way to the kitchen. I glare at him until he's out of sight before returning back to my book.

Unfortunately, I'm only given a few minutes of peace before Liam drops onto the couch beside me, "You know every werewolf in this room just heard what he said right?"

I groan and mumble under my breath, "I swear if any of you say a single word to him about it, I will rip your throat out with my teeth."

Scott and Liam both simply chuckle but Derek tilts his head, "So that explains why you're in such a bad mood today." I glare at him as he turns his attention back to his book with a grin on his face. Across the room, Peter has reentered and is currently leaning against the doorframe of the kitchen doorway and sipping his coffee. I flip him off before resuming my reading.

A good while goes by without any more interruptions but I for the life of me can't focus. I slam my book closed and get up to refill my coffee for the second time. I stay in the kitchen trying to clear my head as I stare out the window above the sink. The sun has begun setting now and the sky is a beautiful orange with a few splashes of pink and purple. I don't know how Peter managed to get a hold of my journal but he's going to rue the day he did when everyone leaves here later. He's been pestering me about it silently ever since and it's starting to grind my nerves to dust. If it weren't for the fact that Derek ordered him not to piss me off, I know for a fact that Liam would also be picking on me about it. I take a deep breath as someone enters the room behind me.

Stiles makes his way over to the coffee pot, rubbing his eyes, and bouncing on the balls of his feet, "This coffee isn't helping very much."

I laugh, "Well, it might if you actually drank it instead of letting it get cold."

He looks down at the mug in his hand, "Fair enough. I just keep getting too focused on the board and forget the coffee is even there."

I set my own coffee on the counter before taking the mug from his hands and emptying it in the seat. I pour a fresh cup of coffee and hand it back to him, "When it cools off enough, chug it."

He looks at me like I'm nuts, "This is black coffee. I think I would die if I tried that."

"You're so dramatic," I giggle, "If you put creamer in it and chug it then you might puke it back up."

He looks back down at the mug and shrugs, turning around to lean against the counter, "So, have you found anything yet?"

I sigh and retrieve my coffee to take a sip before answering, "Unfortunately, no. You?"

He shakes his head, "No, and it's starting to piss me off. I feel like I'm onto something but I can't figure it out even though it feels like it's right in front of me."

I laugh softly and head towards the living room to take a look at his board. Stiles follows me and as I stop and stand in front of the board, taking a sip of my coffee, he stands behind me and rests his chin on my shoulder. I tense up the slightest bit and hear someone chuckle behind us but force myself to relax and survey the board. I can follow his thought process up until one little cluster of information in one corner. I'm trying to decipher it when he speaks up quietly, "I like you too, you know?"

I whip my head around to look at him, "How? Damn it I'm going to kill Peter."

He laughs and wraps an arm around me to hold me back from charging after Peter, "It wasn't Peter. Liam might have thought he was whispering to Mason but he was not. The boy can't be quiet to save his life."

I glare at Liam as he hides behind Scott. He pokes his head up over Scott's shoulder, "Hey! You're one to talk."

Stiles shrugs, turning me back to look at the board, "Whenever we get this shit figured out, do you want to go on a date with me?"

"Yeah, I'd like that. Can you please explain the clusterfuck of thoughts you've got right here though?" I respond, pointing to the corner of the board where I got lost. He laughs and with one arm still slung over my shoulders, begins explaining.
