It was nice to know the hard work put into your school work had paid off. It was pretty neat how the school had arranged to take the best students on a school trip skiing for the weekend. It made it that much cooler when you found you your girlfriend also got accepted, though that honestly wasn't that surprising. It was Lydia, after all.
The bus ride there was exciting but peaceful. Everyone was arranging who was sharing a room with who, what types of sports they were gonna do, and so forth. Yours and Lydia's conversation followed a similar path, though you'd both silently agree to share a room already. "You done anything like this before?" You asked. It wouldn't be surprising if she hadn't. There was never snow in Beacon Hills, so the chances of her knowing how to do any snow sports were near impossible. She shook her head, but you smiled. "Don't worry, I'll help you out."
"You've done it before?" She asked surprised. You shrugged, not wanting to make a big deal out of it.
"There was a sports centre near where I lived before I came to Beacon Hills which had a big artificial snow room where you can do the whole thing. It was somewhere my family always went for birthdays." You explained. "So I have a little bit of practice there."
When you arrived, you all had to unpack, have something to eat and sleep for tomorrow. When tomorrow came, everyone was pretty excited, including Coach. "Alright, we're gonna head up the mountain, has anyone ever drove a snowmobile before?" He asked the group. Everyone noticed the one hand that went up, and all turned to see you. "...Okay, L/N, choose someone to ride with you, one of you will go with me, and the rest of you are gonna take the chairlifts." Coach arranged. You looked over at Lydia, smiling, who only smiled back as you headed to the snowmobiles. You got on, and helped Lydia get on the back, showing her how to make sure she was safe. "You sure you're okay on that?" Coach asked, getting on his own. You nodded, before turning to look at Lydia.
"Ready?" You asked. She nodded, and you turned it on, and immediately took off up the slope. As soon as the mobile moved, Lydia yelped as how fast you were going. She clung even tighter when you swerved around obstacles such as trees, rocks and even people, and she didn't even dare let go to wave at her classmates who she was beating up the slope.
No surprise, you were the first two up there, and you calmly got off, and helped Lydia off. "You've definitely done that more than once." She commented, making you laugh a little. Soon Coach was up the hill to, and soon more students.
"First, L/N, what the hell was that? Two, since you're so good, you can help everyone gear up." Coach ordered. You nodded, chuckling light heartedly. It Coach was trying to teach you a lesson to not be cocky, it wasn't working. Not only did you help people gear up, you also showed them some simple tricks to make their trip back down both fun and safe. You were quickly becoming the most popular person in the group.
When you go the all clear to go down, Lydia expected you to take off down, but instead you stood waiting, offering your hand to her. She carefully trudged through the snow to your side, still not used to the feeling of the skis on her feet. "Hey, I promised to help you, right?" You reminded her. She gave a thankful smile back to you.
"Alright you two lovebirds, get a move on, we've not got all day!" Coach ordered, giving Lydia a little shove, making her start to go down the slope. You quickly caught up, offering a hand to keep her up right as she got used to it. When she got the hang of it, you let go, and decided to try and impress her. You did some of it backwards when it was clear, if there was a snow ramp, you'd go off it, doing simple tricks, and when you reached the bottom you locked arms with Lydia to help her slow down.
"Oh my god! That was awesome!" Lydia squealed, jumping you with a hug, sending you both tumbling into the snow, making you both laugh.
