Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Linked Souls

CHAPTER 13: THE BIRTHDAY BALLOON

*The trio, having formed their Rescue Team, headed down towards town with Reggie's Cafe in mind. The three of them all chatted amongst themselves, in relatively good spirits. The trio arrived at the cafe, eagerly waiting to head in.*

Jesse to Ellie: "So, you alright with here? Definitely? It's your birthday, we can go somewhere else if you want."

Ellie to Jesse: "It's fine Jesse! Besides, I've never been to a place like this before so I wonder what it's like."

*Gubo began rather nervously shaking, blushing once more. Ellie looked rather confused at how Gubo was acting, but Jesse recognised it immediately.*

Jesse to Gubo: "Aww come on, she's not gonna be that bad. We have all day together tomorrow anyway so it's best we try and be friendly with her for now."

Ellie to Jesse: "Is he okay?"

Gubo to Ellie: "I'm fine, it's just... Hailey scares me... I thought I was just scared of girls my age, but after being with-..."

*Gubo gave Jesse an unusual look for a moment, Ellie looked wondering what Gubo was thinking about. Gubo's face turned even more red when he looked at Jesse, Jesse noticed this, but Gubo almost immediately broke eye contact.*

Gubo to Ellie: "Yeah I think I'm just scared of Hailey is all."

*Ellie looked at Gubo and rested her arm over him to comfort him, whilst looking as if she was thinking about something. Jesse simply was just confused by this interaction, but tried to help Gubo out so they could get inside.*

Jesse to Gubo: "Hey pal, come on, we can do this just like last time okay? Let's just have a good time. I'll look out for you."

*Gubo suddenly shot up and stopped shaking, Jesse and Ellie both surprised at how quickly he snapped out of it.*

Gubo: "Thanks you guys, you're right. Let's go have some fun! I'll get our tables!"

*Gubo rather heroically marched into the cafe, Jesse and Ellie left shocked by such a strange interaction, but Ellie rather quickly formed a grin on her face and nudged Jesse.*

Jesse: "Hey! What's that for?"

Ellie: "Hahaha. I'm just laughing at how strange you two are. Aren't you going to follow him?"

Jesse: "The only person here acting strange that I see is you, El. Now come on, let's do what the leader said and have some fun."

*Jesse followed Gubo into the Cafe and Ellie soon followed after that. The trio reunited inside to see that Hailey, Rean and the other strange Pokémon were sat at the same booth they were in a few days ago. Hailey and Rean waved at them to come over, the trio all waved back and approached and sat down. Gubo looked a little nervous as he sat down, but Jesse placed his hand on Gubo's waist again just like last time, calming his nerves rather quickly.*

Hailey: "So then! Looks like we have a few new faces here this time. Sorry about not getting the chance for introductions before but who wants to go first?"

Ellie to Hailey: "I-..."

Hailey to Ellie: "Oh yeah, I tell you what I almost forgot it was the Drifloon girls birthday. She should go first."

*The group silenced for a moment, then Ellie broke the silence, along with it, the awkwardness of the situation.*

Ellie to Hailey: "W-Well... I'm Ellie. I'm... Uhh... I'm not really from around here... I guess."

*Hailey looked at Ellie with a look of strong interest in her eyes, almost as if she had questions about Ellie. Ellie became rather intimidated by this look. There was yet again a moment of silence, as Ellie was awaiting a response from Hailey.*
