I get up out of my bed quickly when I hear a commotion downstairs. Then I quickly and quietly put on my shoes and tip-toe down the stairs.
"Aaron, look for the other one. She's probably upstairs." A deep, unfamiliar voice said.
Mommy and Daddy always told me what to do in case someone tried to get in the house. They told me they could handle themselves if someone got into the house. So I went to the bathroom and got under the sink. I felt around for the handle to the escape door that leads outside. When I found it I turned it left then right then left again.
It popped open.
I heard people coming into the bathroom so I quickly got in. Just before I closed the door I heard two gunshots and two loud thumps. Tears were now streaming down my face as I hoped it wasn't my parents bodies that fell to the floor.
Then I ran.
~
I woke up with my body covered in sweat and my face streaked with tears.
"It was just a dream. Just a dream." I quietly chanted to myself, hoping to calm my nerves.
I wipe my tears off my face and got up to look for the bathroom. I'm pretty sure it's this door. I walked towards the door on the right side of the room.
I turn the knob and open the door expecting to find everything you'd find in a bathroom. That's not what I saw. What I saw in the room probably made my face flush such a bright shade of red that it even made apples jealous.
Austin was in the room wearing nothing but a pair of boxers with hearts on them. He definitely had an six pack as I had observed at Johnson's. He had flawless, smooth tan skin. His light brown hair was curly and messy probably because he just woke up. He smirked when he saw me looking at him. "See something you like?" He said, gesturing to himself smugly.
I smirk back, feeling a rush of confidence. "Oh, yes." I said and he looked surprised but his smirk just widens. "I absolutely love your boxers!" His smirk drops. "Love the hearts, by the way. Very... manly." I said, winking at him and putting extra emphasis on the word 'manly'.
He looks down and then back up and stutters. "I-uh-I-my mom got these for me for my birthday!" He stutters, embarrassed.
"Sure." I chuckle, shaking my head, not believing him at all.
"You were the one who-- hey, what's wrong?" He asks me and I look at him, confused. "Have you been crying?"
"It's nothing. Just a bad dream." I said, sighing.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asks and I roll my eyes.
"Of course I don't want to talk about it!" I snap at him. Hurt is clear in his eyes and he turns toward the bathroom. Oh my god, I am such a bitch, he was only trying to help. I quickly grab his arm and try to keep him from going anywhere. "Austin, I'm sorry, I know you were just trying to help."
"Then why won't you let me help you?" He ask slightly angry. His eyes are pitch black. He has no right to be angry, I'm the only one who should be angry in this situation.
"Fine, you want to help me? Then tell me what the hell is going on!" I yell at him, pushing his chest to put some proximity between us.
"Fine! You want to know! Here it is!" That's all that he said before I see him fall to the ground and seconds after all the snapping of bones there is a huge, and I mean gigantic, midnight black wolf right in front of me. My eyes widen as I realize that I'm going to be eaten by a oversize wolf. I take a step back. This must have made the wolf angry because the next thing I know it started to walk up to me slowly, growling.
"What the hell?" I said, confused, my brain not comprehending the situation just yet. I blink several times before I realize this, in fact, real.
I scream at the top of my lungs, hoping someone comes up here with a machine gun or something that will make sure that I won't get eaten. Though something inside of me is saying that this wolf wouldn't deliberately hurt me in any way.
The door bursts open and Hayden and another guy walks in. Both their eyes widen when they see the black wolf.
"Malia, you need to calm Jake down." He said cautiously. I look at him like he's crazy for a brief second because I don't feel comfortable taking my eyes off the wolf for long. Did he just call this wolf 'Jake'? "Malia, that wolf is Austin, his wolf took over, you need to calm him down, pet his fur, talk to him, do something." Hayden said. I am so confused right now but I trust Hayden to get me out of this, believe it or not.
So I step forward one step because that's how far away it was from me and I hug the wolf. I am hugging a fucking wolf.
"Austin, it's me, Malia." I whisper in his ear. I feel like a crazy lady talking to a wolf.
It nuzzles it's snout into my neck and sniffs me. It relaxes right after. It takes a few steps back and walks into the closet.
A few bone snapping moments later, Austin emerges from the closet with a scared expression on his face.
"Explanation time, Austin."

Austin's POV.
~
I can't believe I just shifted in front of her.
She probably thought I was going to kill her or something, who knows? But I never wanted to hurt her or scare her. I just got so angry that she just wouldn't let me help her with at least this one thing. That's not how I wanted to let her know I was a werewolf. I mean, I did overreact and I know I did. I know she didn't want to just vent all of her problems to a person who she still thinks kidnapped her. I guess my wolf just got hurt for a moment, forgetting that she doesn't know she's my mate. And that she belongs to me.
She probably hates me now, and I deserve it.
But she didn't start yelling or screaming at me. She did the opposite of what I thought she would've done: she stayed calm.
"Explanation time, Austin." She said calmly.
Damn. I am in some deep, deep shit.
