━─━────༺༻────━─━

peter was completely falling for you. and he got teased majorly for it. like, majorly.

the teasing was mainly from scott and john. but, honestly, all of his friends teased him about it.

now, you may be thinking, how bad could the peter maximoff be falling if it meant practically the whole friendship group made fun of him for it.

well... that's classified... all i'll say is that he was falling harder than ever.

anyone in the mansion could try having a conversation with the speedster and he would find a way to mention you somehow. even without realising himself.

peter never would've thought his feelings would be reciprocated. in his eyes, you were out of his league and he had no chance with you.

however, you were just as fond as peter. you were just more subtle about it.

the only people who knew about both of your feelings were charles and jean, who both had a pool going on how long until you both got together.

every single person in the mansion-and anyone who knew him in general-knew that peter had a speed problem. he never slowed down for anything. the only thing that did, however, slow him down was you. hed watch you from afar, attempting to think of any way he could interact with you.

he never quite got close enough to make a move, though.

hed just stand there, gaping at you, trying to pluck up the courage to go ask you on a date or anything.

but he just couldn't.

if he ever was able to make it over to you, he'd just make a stupid joke to leave or would just race away with no comment.

you would try do little things to hint any form of feelings to him; you thought he hated you because every time you spoke to him he just ran off or made an incredible excuse.

he just didn't seem that interested in you, and you had to accept that.

"it's rude to stare, peter." warren scolded, looking right at the kleptomaniac.

peter snapped himself out of his daze to glare at you.

"birdies right, you'll scare the shit out of them if they catch you staring." scott nodded, ignoring warren's protesting of the much hated nickname.

"i wasn't staring-"

"please, you're whipped." alex joined in

"for once, alex is right. you're completely whipped, man." scott now tried to ignore the two people glaring at him. it would be three but peter was looking at the ground, not wanting to meet their eyes.

before peter had the chance to say anything, ororo interrupted, "leave the guy alone. just go talk to them, peter."

"how- i can't- wha-"

"go make a move or i'll do it myself."

"what do you mean..." peter asked, trying to mask the nervousness in his voice.

"well, it's either you go do it the easy way-which is you asking them out yourself-or i go confess and ask them out for you."

groaning, peter mumbled a 'fine' and walked-yes, walked-over in your direction.

"hey." he stood in front of you, causing you to look up from the book you were looking at.

"hey." you smiled, a bit confused as to why he was talking to you. you weren't complaining, though, you'd been trying to start an actual conversation with him for ages but could never gather up enough confidence to do so.

"uh- i- um-what are you reading?" peters words shot out faster than he intended.

"oh, it's this book about these egyptian artefacts that got stolen and this guy and this agent go around the world trying to get them back and stuff. it's called jo-"

"journey of the pharaohs. yeah, i know."

"how did yo-"

"i've been watching you for a while. not in a creepy way or anything. i just really like you-"

"you like me?" you smiled up at him again, cutting off his fast talking.

heat crept up onto his face when he saw you smile. yeah, okay, maybe he was whipped. not like he'd admit it to his friends. "yeah. a lot, actually. i'm sorry i completely ruined this-"

"no, not at all." you were pretty taken aback, in a good way.

there was a comfortable but kind of awkward silence as you both stared at each other, examining the others face as if it was the last time you'd ever see it.

"do you wanna sit down?" you asked, breaking the silence and gesturing to the seat next to you.

"uh-yeah, sure."

peter listened intently as you talked about the book. he loved the way you got excited over it. whenever you spoke about a part you particularly liked, your eyes would light up and he found it the most adorable thing in the world.

he took in every word, even if he didn't understand any of it.

his friends, however, were watching in awe. that was when they realised how much he actually liked you. peter had never been able to listen to others very well. he got distracted easily. what took them most by surprise was that he didn't even move a muscle while you were talking. his eyes were completely glued to you. it was almost as if he thought if he looked away you would disappear.

but you had no intention of leaving.

not now, not ever.
