5 Months after Fallen Kingdom:
Unknown P.O.V: Northern California
"Hey Dad.....why are we out here?" My son calls out to me and I roll my eyes again. "Ron.....this is the fourth and last time. You, and the rest of us, have been spending too much time inside and on our phones or whatnot. So we are here in the great outdoors. So stop your whinging." I say to my teenage son, honestly, he needs to learn that technology isn't everything. It'll all be gone soon, that's what I believe. "We went to the beach yesterday, and the mountains, the day before. I think that we have spent enough time outside." Ron retorts back as I hear my wife, Rachel, sigh. "Because we need to this. So please get over it." My youngest child, Harriett, says with annoyance laced in her voice. "Shut up." Ron says as I glare at him. He buckles under my state and looks to his feet. "Sorry, Harriett." He says I nod, that's what I thought.
"Con, is it nearby, the map says that it should be somewhere here?" Rachel says to me as we reach a crossroads. I look between the pathways. I point down one way before pointing to another one. I reach for the map that Rachel has as she marks the spot where we are standing. "We're definitely lost." Ron quips and I groan in frustration. "Not helping." I grit out as I look between the trees and the map. "If we had a phone than maybe this wouldn't have happened." He continues on and I just ignore him. "Daddy..... we're ok, right?" Harriett says as I smile down at her. "Of course baby. We're alright." I say to her as I rhuffle her hair. "The camp should be southeast of us so.......that way?" Rachel points out as I follow her finger. "Might as well......I don't have a better idea." I say as we walk down the path. The towering red woods and rocky cliffs in the distance gives us an uneasy feeling especially when we hear the snapping of twigs.
"I don't like it here." Harriett says as I pick her up and hold her close. "I do to like it either, sweety. We'll get out of here soon." I say as another twig goes off and we all turn to see a large shape coming from behind the tree. The muscular posture, along with the golden fur and sharp, hungry eyes alert me to the presence of a mountain lion. The large feline snarls at us as I pass Harriett to Rachel who backs up against another tree. I pick up a large stick and point it out at the wild cat, Ron holds a stick as well as he also point at the cat. "Stay back." I say with fear in my voice. The cat growls and lunges a tiny bit forward with its claws. We back further as the cat prowls around its area before snarling at us again. Another twig sounded off as the cats ears perk up. It sniffs around before settling on us again. It snarl and lunges at us.
But a large shadow races from beside us and tackles the feline into the shrubbery. Loud snarls and shrieks are sounding around the forest as the car and the unknown animal tumble out as the cat kicks the large animal off. My eyes widen in fear and awe at the animal before me. It's slender body hides the strong muscle. The large dexterous forearms at the front that flex with aggression. The mouth full of ivory teeth that shine like little daggers. The beautiful blue colouration gives the animal a beautiful but deadly appearance. Not to mention the giant sickle claw on both of it feet. "Velociraptor." Rachel exclaims in terror as the raptor and the mountain lion circle each other. The cat backs up but not before swiping at the snout of the dinosaur. The raptor avoids it and tries to snap at the paw.
Harriett is crying in absolute terror as myself and Ron shield her and Rachel from the predators. "It's ok, baby. Daddy's here." I whisper to her as a loud shriek is heard I look over and see th raptor pouncing on the lion who tries to buck and kick it off but the ancient predator is too strong and manages to slice open the cats stomach. The raptor drops the lion who whimpers and yield in great pain as the raptor methodically leans over and grips the head in its jaws before shaking its own head to the side. A loud crack echos through the trees, the neck of the lion is angled unnaturally as bone is poking up against the skin. We shrink ourselves lower into the base of the tree as loud crunching and flesh tearing is heard. We tremble as he continue to hear the raptor feast on the lion. Ron is silently praying while Harriett is whimpering. Rachel has gone deathly pale. As for myself......I'm just hoping for something or someone to help us, to save my family.
