Y/n POV
The next hour struck, and Gwen fell. My heart dropped with her. Gwen gasped for air, her hand falling to her side as she floated for the second before gravity realized it needed to drag her down. I hoped it didn't. All the gears broke out and fell. Luke's head jerked back at a disgusting angle, dragging his body into the wall, and more steel beams fell unto him.
I recovered, looking over to see my heart falling so fast. It's blonde hair, a golden halo. And the blue eyes flooded with fear. I jumped at her, time slowing down as my senses guided me. My fiance would not die. I would not let that happen. This was my responsibility.
Why wasn't she fighting? She wasn't moving, as if she knew she was already dead, and that she thought I couldn't save her. No, I had to.
Metal gears cascaded around her, falling too. I dived through them, shooting my hand forward, a web flying towards her. The web maneuvered through the gears, and time resumed at it's normal speed. Gwen shut her eyes, accepting fate. Just as my web caught her, and my hand caught on a crossbar. I heard the noise of my soul hitting the concrete, metal clanging to a stop around her.
I tied her to the bar, jumping down. I took off my mask, and took Gwen into my arms, drawing a shaky breath as I unhooked her from the web. I fell to my knees, as she laid across them. "Hey..." I asked, waiting for an answer. "Gwen? ...Hey?" The realization set in, but I didn't believe it.
She just laid there. Her cold and dark eyes staring at the sky, and her body heavy in my arms. "Hey, hey. You're okay." I rubbed my hand on her shoulder, as I would if she was sick. Sobs broke free from the place I stored them in as I ran my fingers in her hair. "Stay with me, stay with me, stay with me." I mumbled. "Stay with me, you stay with me." I was commanding her.
Please listen. "Stay with me." I waited for her voice to tell me she'd never leave, but it didn't say so. "Gwen?" Blood dripped from her nose. "Gwen." I sobbed, "No, please." I drew shaky breaths in between sobs. "Plea-" I choked. "Please. You prom- You promised me. Don't leave. Gwen, please." And still nothing.
I buried my head into her chest. She can't be gone. But here she was, cold in my arms as I sobbed into her chest. "Gwen?"
3rd Person POV
Y/n woke up, shooting upright, sweating. He looked around frantically. She wasn't here. Not in the bed. He stood up and began to search the apartment. She was gone, dead. No, he saved her, he brought her home from that lab. She was never at the tower. But that was so real, it must have happened.
Y/n returned to his bed, sobbing. She can't be gone. The door to the bathroom opened, and Gwen stood in one of Y/n's t-shirts. She heard crying, and saw Y/n sitting. Gwen rushed over, crouching in front of him. "What happened, Y/n?" She asked, worried. "No, you're dead." "I'm not. I'm right here. It's you and me." Gwen explained. Y/n's breathing slowed. "Now tell me what happened. Was it another nightmare?" Gwen asked, keeping her hands anchored on his shoulders.
Y/n nodded slowly. "It was so real. We were at the clock tower, Luke had you. And you fell, and I couldn't catch you, and you died, and it was my fault, and-" Y/n cried, "It's not real, Y/n." "Then why did it feel real?" Gwen grabbed Y/n's face. "Look at me. This is real, you and me in our apartment. This is real." Gwen rubbed the ring she gave to Y/n when she proposed.
Y/n, looked into her eyes. "You promised you'd never leave me." "Never. I swear I'll never leave you." Gwen kissed Y/n on the forehead as he melted into her touch. Gwen cradled Y/n in her arms while they were in bed, facing each other. Gwen had been dealing with nights like this the past few months. But this was the worst. The worst nightmare, and the fact that she wasn't in bed when he woke up. Gwen felt guilty. She kissed Y/n's forehead again, running her fingers through his hair.
