Sobbing filled the silent room. A lost lover, and their other half left to pick up the pieces. After everything he's done, you'd think he'd finally be allowed to be happy. But it was a matter of time. Everybody he got close to died, family, friends. And he knew sooner or later Gwen would, too. So he just cried, letting out all the tears he held in for her. And all the ones he's cried over her, too. He buried his head in her chest, feeling the necklace she wore with the ring around it pressing into him. "Gwen..." Y/n lifted his head, screaming in pain.
Hale, Cindy and Quentin rushed over eventually, the two helping her walk, and stopping upon seeing the sight. Cindy began to cry, Hale looked defeated, Quentin and Scott regretful. But May had no reaction, she just looked at the two, memories of MJ's reaction to Peter's death filling her head. Helen Stacy walked in, she assumed Gwen died in the hospital, and she had to look after her boys. But she burst into tears seeing her daughter, the realization setting.
Y/n screamed, the echo ripping through his soul. "Please don't leave me. I- I tried. I- Why did it have to be you?" Y/n asked, crying for his lost loved one. How would he carry on? What-
The bell stopped ringing, being replaced by the slow and staccato beeps that made Y/n look up from his crying. A sharp inhale cut through the sudden deafening silence. Y/n turned to see Gwen shoot up in bed, and out of instinct he grabbed onto her, holding her close to his heart and crying. He ran his fingers through her hair, feeling the short and soft golden halo, and inhaling her sweet scent that reminded him of home. Gwen looked up at every body around her, feeling Y/n's blood seep into her clothes, hair and stain her skin. Her eyes caught on her mother. They all wore looks that told her why Y/n was like this. She just died. So she pushed herself aside and held onto Y/n as tight as she could, burying her head into his neck. "I promised I would never leave you."
In the past month, New York was broken. Shattered, but now it was healing. The bridges were repaired, the army came in and began to help rebuild. Y/n was out in the city, walking when he heard something in an alley. He looked and saw a man standing in a suit, he knew the man so he walked that way. "Kid," Tony Stark stood waiting for Y/n. "Where were you!" Y/n yelled at the man. "Ah, you know, Avengers drama. I just wanted to say good job on the save-" "You don't get to just come back and say good job. I'm- I can't- Everything fell apart, and you expect to just come back after sitting on your ass and say 'Good job, kid. You're an Avenger, now.' like I'm some pawn? No, stay away from me and my family." Y/n retreated back to the street to finish his errand.
He got food from that place on 6th street with those amazing Korean Meatballs for Gwen. He brought them home, and Gwen jumped up from the couch. She looked healthier, she'd gotten back all the weight she lost, she had more color to her face. And you could tell she was healing. "Did you get them?" Gwen questioned, as Y/n held up the bag with a smile. "Yes." She exclaimed, excitedly, walking over and taking them from him, moving to the table.
Y/n grabbed plates from the cabinet, and two sodas from the fridge, sitting down across from Gwen with a smile. This is all he wanted, the two of them together. "How's your mom?" Y/n asked, as Gwen sighed. "You know my mom, she wants me to move back in with her." Y/n looked over at Gwen surprised. "Don't worry, I told her I'm staying with you." Gwen smiled at her fiance.
Later that night Quentin and Cindy came over, Cindy carrying chips and Quentin with sodas. Cindy and Gwen were in the kitchen with the pizza, and chips. "Here, I brought these." Quentin handed Y/n a beer. "I'm underage." "Drink, you need it." Quentin clicked his bottle against Y/n's, taking a sip and walking towards the table. Y/n hung back, looking at the three. If he knew where this was headed when he first got bit, he wouldn't believe it. But here he was, healing. Maybe not completely happy just yet, but getting there. So Y/n walked behind the counter, putting his arm around Gwen as they talked and hung out. Just like any normal people their age would.
