The night was sleepless, the thought of calling Lydia their daughter kept the boys awake and restless. The thought in itself seemed like some sort of movie plot. But they wanted this, after unspoken and elongated silence, they decided that together they wanted that. Wanted her to have their name. They wanted to hear her call them dad.
As soon as the sunlight filtered through the blinds, they sat up in bed. Harry chuckled lowly as he felt Lydia cling to his shirt, pulling him back down on the bed.
"Louis, babe can you call mum and Gemma in here?" He calls out, soothing her back to sleep as Louis nods with a smile and grabs Harry's phone.
Minutes of breath holding anticipation later, three swift knocks on the door makes them jump. Louis walks over to the door, swinging it open as he greets Anne and Gemma ushering them in.
"What's so urgent H!? I was having a good sleep" Gemma groans, plopping down on the couch with a long drawn sigh.
Anne's eyes were soft, her smile wide as she noticed Harry whispering songs to Lydia who seemed to be having some trouble sleeping. He held her close, rubbing her back and rocking her slightly.
"So, about that-uhm" Louis nervously rubs his neck, Harry clearing his throat slightly.
"Without further anticipatory silences, we'll just say this- we want to adopt Ly" Harry says, as both Anne's and Gemma's eyes widen.
"H-Lou-" Gemma says, eyes darting between them both, before she could continue the door gets knocked on again. Louis opens the door, revealing Helen, the boys and their manager.

"So you're saying you want Lydia to be Lydia Jay Styles-Tomlinson?" Helen says a smile on her face as she watches a sleepy Lydia curl up in Louis' chest.
They nod as Niall cheers, making Liam hit him in the back of his head.
"Shut up idiot, she's sleeping" He hisses and shakes his head.
"Well we can look into the whole legal part of this adoption. But until its finalized and the papers are signed we can't let the media get a whiff of this news or her name will be all over the place and I'm sure none of us want that."
All of them just nod in agreement as their manager explains a bit more about the process before standing up to call the lawyer.
"Well the media sure is going to go ballistic if she stays with you" Zayn says and Helen hums in agreement.
"I can keep her for the time being, she knows me pretty well too" Anne chirps up, and Harry nods with a smile
"Sounds good, we can come visit her often too that way and no one suspects a thing" Niall says and everyone chuckles.
"Well the lawyer says before applying for the adoption, they'll have to check if her parents are still in the picture or not. We can't have them interrupt the court proceedings, it could lead to total loss of the application" Matt says as he enters the room.
"Let's get back home first, then we can all work this out together yeah?" Gemma says as everyone slowly starts walking out of the room congratulating the boys once.
