I left Davey inside to watch the History channel before walking out my back door. I didn't want Davey to be out with us because he would slow Stiles and I down as we tried to look for the other half of the girl's body... Not because I wanted to be alone with him, in case you were thinking that.
I had two egg-rolls rolled up in the packaging that I was going to give to Stiles and it was bumping against my leg as I weaved my way through the trees, trying to find a mister Stiles Stilinski which was proving very difficult since I didn't have a flashlight or my phone with me.
"Mia, I'm over here," I heard Stiles familiar voice to the left of me and I slowly turned in that direction. "Do you have food for me?"
"Two egg-rolls," I announced proudly, handing him the bag. "Was it hard to get out?"
"No," Stiles muttered in between bites. "He had me grounded so I just snuck out the window after I said I was going to bed."
"What if he checks on you?" I asked as Stiles finished the first egg-roll in record time and started on the second.
"I'm not an idiot, Mia," Stiles smirked the lovable smirk he had, most of the egg-roll eaten by now. "I stuffed my bed with some of my pillows."
"Okay, Stiles," I chuckled. "Where do you want to start the search?"
"I was thinking that we could head over by Scott's house and walk more North," Stiles was all business now, which was a bit distracting as I tried to follow along with what he was saying. I was getting distracted, however, with the look of determination he had on his face which was rather attractive. "I have a theory that the wolf probably dragged the other have and hid it somewhere for a midnight snack."
"Um, okay," I shrugged.
"Okay?" Stiles asked, handing me a small flashlight. "Let's go."
We walked in silence for a little bit. We were both equally deep in thought, though I think we were thinking about different things. Stiles was probably thinking about the wolf and where the body would be while, on the other hand, I was thinking about how I should've worn better boots and brought my phone along in case my dad called me.
Suddenly, I thought of something I hadn't thought of before, and it was all thanks to Mr. Argent.
"Stiles?" I whispered.
"Yeah, Mia?" Stiles whispered back, flashing his heavy duty flashlight in my eyes.
"What if the wolf that killed the girl attacks us?" I asked, thinking back to Mr. Argent and his crossbow. "I mean, we have no protection and the wolf is probably out for blood."
"We have flashlights," Stiles offered up sarcastically. "And I took a year of karate when I was seven, so I think we'll be okay."
"Okay, so you think that you can take down a blood-hungry wolf with your bare hands because you took karate when you were in grade school?" I laughed, trying to picture Stiles in the karate gear but drawing up blanks. "That's ridiculous."
"No, what's ridiculous is how far these woods go," Stiles complained, pushing back a branch. "I never liked the woods behind Scott's house. They remind me of this horror film I watched when I was ten."
"I've never seen any horror film," I replied. "I tried to watch the Human Centipede but I couldn't get past the first thirty minutes."
"Wow," Stiles sighed, looking over at me. "That's pretty lame."
"Lamer than taking karate for a year and thinking you can take on a wolf?" I ask innocently.
"Well... okay," Stiles laughed, his ears turning a shade of red.
