"So how did it go?" Becky asked, eager to hear about me kicking Marty out on his ass. It had been a slow day and there were only so many times you could wipe down the counter and re-roll the silverware. There was only one hour left before closing, but it felt like it was dragging on forever.
"You remember that cowboy I told you about?" I said, refolding the tea towels for the tenth time.
This seemed to catch her attention. Smiling like a kid who got candy for dinner, she squealed, "The one you met at the bar?"
Now it was my turn to grin. Nodding, I answered, "That's the one. Anyway, he and I seemed to have clicked."
Becky raised an eyebrow and nudged me in the ribs with her elbow, "That was fast."
I shrugged as if it was no big deal, "Well, you know what they say. When you fall off the horse, you need to get up and get right back on."
