Chapter 220: Konoha's NEW Heroes!!

-----NO ONE'S POV-----

Naruto plunged the Rasengan into Pain's abdomen sending him harshly flying back into a rock.

When he fell back down, (y/n) was there to catch him. Or at least attempted to. They stumbled and rolled back.

"ow." (y/n) hissed, her form going back to normal.

Naruto pussed himself off of her sister and offer his hand.

"you okay?"

"yeah.." she rubbed her butt.

The two gathered beside Pain's unconscious body. Naruto bent down studying pain before plucking one of the rods out of his torso.

"what are you doing?"

"Pain moved the bodies with these rods by receiving chakra. If we take it out he shouldn't be able to move again."

She nodded and followed his lead plucking out the rods in other half of his torso.

They were fairly easy to pull out. Blood dripped the ends. (y/n) didn't dare to see the inside.

Then they finished plucking out the rods they started moving again. This time headed into the woods as Naruto followed (y/n). But half way there someone called out.

They turned to see who it was.

"Shikaku. Inoichi. (Sama?)"

(y/n) and Naruto topped and faced the three of them. Ino and Shikamaru's father along with so one from the Hyuga clan.

"If you two are here. Does that mean you guys defeated Pain?" Inoichi asked.

"We're on our way to see Pain's real body."

"We'll come as back up."

"No. We're going on our own. Please don't interfere."

Both Inoichi and Naruto argued but luckily Shikaku was there before it got out of hand.

"Shikaku!"

"let's trust them. They've made it this far. If anyone can handle this it's them."

Inoichi calmed down and followed his friend's advice.

Naruto nodded. "Thank you Shikaku."

"(y/n)."

She turned around and waited for him to continue.

"Watch over Naruto and make sure you both come back in one piece, okay?"

She gave him a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry. We'll be back before you know it."

The two turned around leaving the three behind.

Not far ahead was a giant tree just like the others, pretty well hidden in plain sight. They landed on the grou d just in front of it. It looked like an ordinary tree from afar but up close it looked like sheets of paper stacked on each other painted to look like a tree.

"He's in there, let's go."

Naruto grabbed his sister's hand preventing her from going forward.

"let me do this alone."

Taken back by his request, she shook her head disapprovingly.

"What? Naruto no. We fought together and we're going to see this through."

"Please?"

"Naruto, I'm not going to let you fight in there alone."

"Just this time let me be selfish." his pleading eyes met hers. "Second ago I thought I lost you. Just let me do this. I'll come back in one piece. I promise."
