chapter 7-lifesaver

SMALL TW FOR THIS CHAPTER!

Wearing my swimsuit under my sweat pants and shirt, I take my bag. Over the weekend me and Rose and talked about what had happened and went shopping for the swimming carnival.

"Oh y/n, you and Micheal are such lovebirds" She smirked

"Shut it rosie! we're just friends!"  I exclaimed back at her

She clicked her tongue and found a a swim suit. It was a one piece which showed a lot of your back. I raised my eyebrows.

"Really rose?" I question her

"tsk, Y/n it's not even inappropriate!" she fought back

"It shows my entire back Rosie!, They'll probably kick me out if I turn up with that" I yell

"Fine! Take this one then" She hands me another one piece but this time with swimming shorts. The swimsuit was my f/c and it didn't show much of my back.

"I like this one rose!"

After remembering that small moment, I walk to the bus stop. Climbing there I sit. I was excited yet nervous. I wonder what will happen today?

Listening to music, I looked out the window. It was going to be hot and pretty sunny. I knew it would be perfect so I would go in the water. I only knew basic swimming techniques I had learnt. I was faster than Rosie when I raced her before. 

I was so deep into my thoughts I didn't see Micheal walk in. He sits next to me and looks at me with a smile. He turns away and leaves me be. 

I turn off my music and take my headphones (AirPods/earbuds/etc) out and I turn to my left. 

"Took you long enough to see me Y/n" Joked Micheal

"Oh sorry, I was busy in my own thoughts" I replied

"Nah its fine, happens to me" He looks at me with his blue eyes. He looks at my ears.

"Nice earrings Y/n, I just saw them now" He said

"Oh! Thanks! They're a gift from a guy called Mason. He gave them to me on my last day"  I nod in response

"A guy?.." Micheal asks

"yes.." I reply hesitantly 

"Ah okay." Micheal turns away from me. 

I look out the window. What on earth? What's up with him..

Is he jealous?

--------AFTER GOING TO SCHOOL---------

I get off the bus and wait for Micheal. He walks out and we go in together. He smiles and says goodbye to join his friends. I do the same to go to Kasy. 

"Hey kase!" I called her. Its my new nickname for her.

"Hey Y/n! You ready? You came just in time!" She says

"yep!"

Me and Kasey ride the bus together. We chat about all sorts of things but something was bothering me. I saw Katrina look at me and smile. I do the same and return to Kasy. She's probably being nice...I think. 

Throughout the ride, Micheal was in front so I had always seen him. He looked so happy with his friends. He would joke and laugh. He would blush sometimes. I wonder what he's blushing at. 

Kasey kept talking and we had reached our destination. Me and Kase leave the bus and go in. The smell of chlorine hit our faces. ''ergh'' I replied to the smell and Kasy makes a face in agreement.

We were swimming in the outdoor pool as it was way too hot to go inside. It was a hot day, so it was perfect for a swim. Kasey and I go into the change rooms and change into our swimsuits. Kase has a bright green top along with a skirt. 

"You're not gonna swim Kase?" I asked

'No I can't swim" She admitted

Me and her chuckle and I get ready to go. We sit in the stands and gossip. Chat and watch people swim. The carnival always started with intermediate swimming competitions. I would do the more easier ones like the 100 meter races. It won't take long for me.

Throughout the day I saw Micheal. He had shorts on and a swimming shirt. The school didn't let boys go shirtless on the day. That was good..I would have probably had a heatstroke. Not from the sun..but from other reasons..

Me and Kase cheered for certain people from our class. It was nice break from algebra, Ancient Egypt and biology. They announced the 100 meter race. 

"Go get em y/n!" She exclaimed

"I'll try Kase"

Walking down the stands I noticed Katrina there. 

"Finally swimming Y/n?" She says

"yes Katrina..you too?" I reply

"Mhm! I do love to swim.." She drawls

Her swimsuit was purple, and it did reveal a lot. Surprised she was allowed to wear something like that, I roll my eyes and walk to my spot in the pool. I was nervous I hadn't swam in a while. Katrina was next to me. I inhaled and exhaled. I looked at the stands and saw Kasey cheering for me. 

I waved shyly. I look around and see Micheal and his friends. He gives me a thumbs up and cheers. I can hear him over the deafening yelling of other people screaming for their friends.

"GO Y/N! GET EM PRINCESS!" 

I heat up at the nickname and smile. I pose to get ready and dive.

"Get ready swimmers! 3, 2, 1 

...

GO!"

The siren blares and off I go. The sounds of cheering is blocked by the water. I had made a great start, flowing through the water like a dolphin. I felt free!

I kept swimming until something happened. My foot was stuck! I felt myself lagging behind and sink deeper into the pool. I tried to swim up to breath but I couldn't. I look at my foot and see it was stuck on the strings which separated the swimmers. I panic.

I was trying to untangle my foot. I couldn't. It was stuck. Pain fills my lungs as I couldn't breath any longer. My foot got scratched multiple times in my attempt to flee. I couldn't. A heard screaming and muffled yelling. 

''someone save me!'' I yelled in my head. I inhaled water and exhaled my final breath of oxygen. I sank deeper, my foot was free but I couldn't move any longer. Water filled my lungs. This was it.

I closed my eyes. Everything felt slow and heavy. I drifted. 

...

Something pulled me. They had their big arms around my waist and pushed me higher. I didn't know who. 

I was at the surface but I couldn't see or breath. I was no longer in the water.

I heard a voice

"Y/N! Y/N CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" 

It was muffled

"MOVE IT!"

"GET AWAY!"

"Y/N WAKE UP!"

I pass out.
