My mother zipped up my dress and I felt my body tighten.

"Well.." My mother patted my back and stood next to me, smiling. "You look beautiful darling."

I smiled weakly, looking at myself.

"I just can't believe it's already prom" I smiled

"I just can't believe it's already prom" I smiled. It felt ages since Michael last asked me to go to prom with him. I can't wait for us to finally be together, all dressed up.

My mother chuckled behind me and went to my desk. She started packing my makeup away.

"I said that exact same thing on my prom night." She zipped my makeup bag and pushed it away, it made a rattling sound. She turned around and

"You look so grown up" she whispered and took a step closer to me. I turned my head to her as she fixed a strand of my hair. I turn back to look at my hair in the mirror.

"Do you really think this is enough for prom?" I touched a looping strand

"Do you really think this is enough for prom?" I touched a looping strand. It gently bounced.

"Are you kidding? It is definitely enough. It lifts your face so well" She laughed. "Okay darling, go show your father. I think Michael will soon be here."

"Huh.. I'm surprised that you're so relaxed about me and Michael." I remarked.

"Well.. he's proved himself to be.. different. That doesn't matter now, as long as you're happy" she patted my shoulder and gently guided me towards the door.

I lifted my dress slightly so I wouldn't tread on it. I wouldn't want to ruin this dress at all.

My heels weren't that tall, but I should still be careful. I felt the cold hit my shoulders but I walked down the stairs. With every step I took my heels gave that satisfying click and clack. My father was in the living room and I quickly shuffled over.

"Hey Dad. What do you think?" I stepped near the coach and my Dad turned around. He looked stunned. He paused the TV and let out a quiet wow.

"Y/n? Is that really you?" He smiled and got up. "You look so grown up.. what happened to my little kid?" He laughed. I smiled and my mother joined us. She handed me my purse and said something about me being older to my father. I opened my purse and pulled out my phone. I was met with a blank notifications
