"Good morning, my little Stardust! Did you sleep well?" Jay Linnell, now a much older man, asked his daughter, as he placed a bowl of cereal in front of her.
"Uuuggh. I told you to stop calling me that, Dad! I'm not a little girl, anymore! I'm fucking 16 years old, for Satan's sake!" Jay's daughter, Violet Elisabeth Linnell, said, annoyed at her father, as teenagers tend to get.
"Language, young lady! That's no way to talk to your father!" Kaya Linnell scolded.
"It's fine, babe. I said way worse to my parents before, when I was her age." Jay stated, a small grin plastered on his face.
Just then, a portal opened in the middle of the kitchen, and out stepped Violet's extended family.
"Young miss, a pleasure to see you, as always!" Alastor said, his usual ear-to-ear grin actually genuine.
"Violet! So great to see you again!" Charlie Morningstar exclaimed with stars in her eyes.
"How's my little sobrina doing?" Vaggie asked, less excited than Charlie, but still very happy.
"What's up, Vi?" Loona asked, in her usual monotone, but clearly happy to see the teen.
The rest of the group said their greetings (A/n because I'm too lazy to write more than that), before Jay and Kaya received calls.
"Hold on, everybody. I need to take this." Jay said, walking into the next room.
"Same here." Kaya said, walking with Jay.
The others listened in, trying to hear what was being said.
Jay: "Yes?"
Kaya: "Uh huh."
Jay: "Yes sir."
Kaya: "No, sir. Nobody knows anything."
Jay: "Understood, sir. Linnell, out."
Jay sighed. "I know you all listened in. Kaya and I have to go to work. Please look after my Stardust for me?"
Everybody: "You can count on us, Jay!"
"Yeah. I know."
Minutes later, Jay and Kaya were ready to go through a portal to another universe.
"You ready, babe?" Jay asked, pulling the charging handle on his H&K XM8, in sniper configuration.
