I want to share a bittersweet fact with y'all. If you didn't know, my novel, The Green Guardian, was inspired by my older brother's life. Everything went downhill for him after COVID hit. He was getting back on his feet when he passed away. The main character in The Green Guardian, Anthony Mateo Brook, is based on Matthew himself. The name "Mateo" is "Matthew" in Spanish and Italian. I wrote about him for a reason—to show the world that there is always a second chance waiting for you. Even though it's devastating how I never shared Mateo with Matthew, he's my way of knowing that my older brother is still with me. I plan to publish The Green Guardian in his honor. I will share Mateo/Matthew's character aesthetic with you guys. I want to show you why I gave Matthew the title "The Green Guardian".
