"And 1, 2, slowly now.. slower..."

"Ow!" You pulled a wing muscle.

"I said slower." Val grumbled.

It was a slow process, but, with time, your wings were feeling a lot better. Almost a week passed. Every day passing, you dreaded. Because that meant the more time passed, and the better you got, the sooner you would be forced to marry the king.

Val was still assisting you every day through excruciating exercises on your wings and connected back muscles. Not only did you have to recover from this injury, but she also insisted that you retain the lost strength in your wings so they could work normally again... You still felt too ashamed to tell her that you didn't even know how to fly.

Thankfully, every other night your cousin was able to come. He couldn't stay for long, but the old man was able to meet the other two girls, grinning widely at the fact that you had two new friends and that he wouldn't be needed as much.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Another series of knocks sounded from the door as your dark honey colored wings were still out in the open.

"You better not pull my pants down this time!" You threatened Val hoarsely, rushing to the bed to grab a sheet to cover yourself if needed. However, this time, Val also had her dark brown wings now free of view, so she swiftly slid to the room doors with the plan to hide behind them if they needed to be opened.

"Wh- who is it?!" Val called once against the large arched doors.

"It's Mrs. Persson.. (Y/n)'s future mother in law." You hated how she said so casually. "I've come to ask you if the girl would be fit enough to join us for an event later this evening." Val turned back to face you, with a contorted face asking you for an answer. You only copied her odd expression, shrugging for good measure. She shrugged back. Neither of you knew exactly how long it would normally take an injury like you were supposed to have to heal. "Do you, um.. need a little time?"

"Uh. What is the event?" Val decided to be reasonable and ask for more information.

"Oh it's hardly a challenge. She would be sitting most of the time. There's a new film that has come out; and it's a pretty big deal! The creators invited Herobrine himself to their red carpet celebration in honor of him. Only a quick drive there and back. Maybe an hour or two to sit through --nothing too crazy!"

"A movie...?" Turning to you, "Have you ever seen a moving picture before?" Val asked you. You shook your head. Where you were from, anything more than the occasional live street performance was considered a luxury! You always heard of the new technology that was "world changing" and "sweeping the nation," but if that was the case, then why weren't YOU impacted by any of it? My, to you this new technology hadn't changed a thing in your life, nor the lives of those around you! "Would you want to..?" Val asked much quieter this time. You thought about it for a moment..then nodded. Turning back towards the door, "Yes, it checks out. As long as she has her brace and, uhh, doesn't walk too much, she is free to go!" Val said with a smile.

"Good to hear! I'll begin preparing. There are dresses in the closet fitting for (Y/n) if you want to check them out!" Mrs. Persson exclaimed behind the door. Then the tapping of her shoes on the hard floors faded away slowly. Val sighed in relief.
