Rebecca stands watching the horizon with her night vision binoculars. She watches as the undead organizes their ranks.
An impressive number of ghouls, skeletons, and zombies have been raised. More than enough to lay siege to the city and breach the walls. An army large enough to be a problem if she does not stop it here.
"Prepare the catapults and ballista quietly, captain. They are ready to march. Use this fire in every attack. It will light up the undead and reveal their position. We need to find the location of the necromancer." Rebecca hands the captain a torch that she lit earlier with the Fiery Dragon's fire. She looks back up the long slope and sees a single skeletal figure bathed in a hallo of green light sitting on the back of an undead horse with glowing green eyes and green mist drifting from the horse's mouth.
Either this necromancer is a complete fool or...
The necromancer moves between the legions of the undead with slow determined steps and stops in the middle of his army. He opened his mouth and an unearthly howl pierces the night like the scream of a frightened woman.
Green waves of undead magic ripple across the ground.
Shit! Banshee howl. It causes hallucinations and brings out a person's worst fear. This will cause her soldiers to have a delayed reaction. Only one spell can counter it. "Mental defense."
Rebecca is astonished when a white bird-like mirage emerges from behind her and hits the banshee howl head-on but the banshee howl continues its relentless path.
"Forest spirit, protect us from the master of death. Floral guards arise!" Lisa chants. Glowing yellow flowers bloom before the army of the dead. The banshee howl connects. It is held back but not nullified.
"Damnit! He is to powerful. I can't nullify his howl!" Lisa exclaims.
'Rebecca, use my power. Call the spirit shield.'
'But your power is fire. It can not stop death magic.'
'Fire exists in all living matter in certain quantities. Do not underestimate my power! Now use it!'
"Fine, Spirit shield!" She doubts that fire magic can block death magic. From what she learned in school death and fire is destructive elements.
'Do not doubt my power, Rebecca. This necromancer is no match for my might. He will learn that what I burn does not return.'
The banshee howl reaches the walls and the green ripples crawls up the walls with smoky green tendrils. The moment it reaches the top white hot flames roars to life creating an even higher wall. But the banshee howl mist burns as it comes into contact with it.
"If you have to resort to the Fiery dragon's power then the magic coming from that necromancer is something else. I have never seen a necromancer this powerful or this old. By his magic alone he is ancient," Lisa answers her.
"Let's get to a safer position. This wall is about to be peppered with a barrage of attacks," Marilyn says next to her.
"I told you to let me handle this on my own. We are staying on the frontline defense until I say. I am not going to let the dead breach the wall tonight. The fire torch I gave to the captain earlier contains the fire of the Fiery Dragon. Once the dead are burned by it the necromancer won't be able to raise them again," Rebecca replies.
"They have started to move. The necromancer has not changed his position," says a knight standing dangerously on the thick stone wall of the battlements.
Rebecca hears the twang of thousands of strings in the night. She hears the woosh of arrows traveling in the dark. Silent, unseen and deadly.
"Not on my watch. Fiery dragon hear my call. We need your power. Fire shield!" Rebecca cries out.
