People Pleaser [CORPSKKUNO]

Chapter: 3

"Senator! Where have you been- I've been looking for you!" A pale looking Giltena shouted out of breath as they ran towards Sykkuno.
"Davin! What is it?" Sykkuno asked as he rushed to the tired assistant.

"Vallen authorities reported a fleet in sector H-37, 41. Their insignia was  Siphonophore!" The Giltena's ears perked up as they spoke through gasps. 
"Where were you?"

"I was only visiting a friend..." Sykkuno knew why the fleet was there but  pretending he didn't was hard for him. Lying sounds like something he should know how to do as a government official but, Sykkuno was known to be terrible at it.

"When did they arrive? What have they done so far?" Sykkuno said trying to sound as worried as he possibly could.
"They arrived at almost 10 exactly."

Davin stood up as he caught his breath, straightening his robes which had been blown about from his running.
"They stayed stationary for about 45 minutes, they seem to be preparing to warp out."

"Alert  the republic, we can't do much. Do the people know?" Sykkuno asked as  Davin hurried him inside the Vallen capital building.
"No, should we tell them?"

"I-  wait a little longer, see if the republic can find anything out, then tell everyone." Sykkuno replied trying to sound confident and worried at the same time. It wasn't very hard for him though, even when he would try and only sound confident, it still would always come out a bit shaky.

They rushed through the halls as people ran around panicked, a single  appearance of the Siphonophore and everything goes to hell. Someone new  ran up too Sykkuno as they saw him approaching.

"Sir, any messages from the republic will arrive in 5 hours, the public might find out by then. Should we tell them something?" The six armed alien walked backwards as they tried their best to keep up with the senator and keep track of reports while also writing something down.

"We don't want to scare the people yet, when the republic can tell us everything is fine, then we should tell them." Sykkuno replied, the insectoid nodded and ran off as Sykkuno was shown into a room.

Everyone  inside was either typing away at a computer, talking worriedly amongst a group, or rushing data-pads across the room. Monitors on some near by desks displayed the sector of the Vallen system where the Siphonophore ship was spotted. Most people were too busy to even notice Sykkuno had entered, today was going to be a long day.

"We're sorry Hopom, your brother... hasn't returned home." His mother sat him down at the dinning room table.
"Well why not? Did he get moved to somewhere else? I though he was on the R.S.S. Koiden?" Hopom looked to his parents as they looked down. His Mom put her hand on his before speaking again.

"He was moved to the B.B. Jupiter just two months before you got put on the Cnidaria."
"Really? He never told me." Hopom worried as his parents expressions became darker.
"He didn't tell you because he was trying to get information to the republic."

"Sludan would never! He was the one who convinced me too become a Palpon!" Hopom shouted as he shot up from the table. His mom grabbed his hand again, telling him too calm down as he felt his eyes go hot.

"...So he's dead?" He said through sobs.
"I'm so sorry Tia..."

"Your first appearance in our system sent my people into madness. If we're to meet again it should be outside of republic space."

"Then we meet in no-space. The Cnidaria and her sister ships will be waiting for you senator." An attachment to the message was a set of coordinates deep in no-space. Giving the excuse of being overwhelmed by the events of that day, which somehow worked, Sykkuno set off to meet with the pirate again.
