"With the Doburks leaving Vallen, Siphonophore attacks are growing closer to Vallen cities. A statement from the Vallen, Chief of Defense, Holga Wartov reads, "We believe-"

"Mom what are you watching?" A small turquoise skinned Flogian asked as they jumped up onto the arm of a pink chair.
"Just the news..." a more blue skinned Flogian answered.

"What's the news?" The Mother picked up her child and sat them in her lap and looked down at them.
"Do you remember the bad pirate guys I told you about?" She asked gently.
"The... Fi-phono... four?" The kid asked as they looked up at their mom.

"Yes..." The mother paused as she looked back at the TV. It showed a video taken from an abandoned Doburk outpost, one of the first ones the Siphonophore had attacked. It was barren, nothing but half decomposing buildings, discarded machinery, and crashed ships.

"Well the news says that the Siphonophore, is going to start attacking us." She corrected while explaining the situation.
"Can't the Republic make them stop?" The kid cuddled up to their mother.
"...I don't know." She responded as she comforted them.

"-from the Senator, live from the Vallen senate building in Kawayuji, Lutqeo." A transition of a blue swipe across the screen, revealed a video feed of a drone flying above a plaza in front of the senate building. A crowd of reporters and citizens was chatting amongst themselves as the doors to a small balcony above the plaza opened.

The blue swipe appeared again as the camera changed to one of the many in the crowd of reporters. The angle moved up to more clearly record the balcony as the senator stepped up to the edge.

A variety of species all sat around a holo screen in an old dinner, listening to the senator's address. A small Playqon stood on a stool trying to look over the adults shoulders.
"Citizens and associates of Vallen, Thank you for being here."

"Right, cut the crap get to the-"
"Could you actually shut the fuck up Terry?" A Kalec whisper yelled at an adjacent Jakow. They rolled their eyes and looked back at the screen.
"I want to make something clear. And that is even as your senator, I know I should not speak for my people."

"But that's what senators do, is it not?" A Terran asked the person next to them. They shrugged as the bus stopped and a few people left. The Terran held up their tablet again and continued watching.
"The fate and the lives of Vallen are in the people's hands."

"The outcome of decisions should be decided by the citizens... and yet the recent ones have not."

"Vallen is a newly joined Republic world,"

A family of Giltena sat around a screen in their living room. The Fathers both sat on a couch behind a group of 5 young children.
"Daddy?" The smallest one turned to them.
"Yes pumpkin?" One of them leaned down closer to their kid.
"Why does the sen- senta- se.."
"Senator?"

"Sentator sound sad?" The child asked as their ears drooped.

"-but we seem to have allies outside of the Republic." Sykkuno paused and breathed in. He was used to addressing smaller groups of people, yes there would be cameras, but it was a lot easier when there were less people, actually present. On top of the sounds of the ships, speeders, and drones all recording him, he had billions of people hearing everything he said.
