- Is this a knife in your hand? - He asked trying to hold a laugh.

She looked at the knife and then back at him and said annoyed:

- Yeah, you were knocking the door of someone's house at 3 in the morning, I had to be prepared. - He started laughing at her. - Stop laughing! - She said not being able to hold her own laugh.

Suddenly he's expression changed as his smile fadded. They stayed in silence for a few minutes.

- So, wanna tell me what happened, pretty boy? - She asked giving him a little smile. - I never saw you so upset, not even when I kicked your ass, and we know I did that a lot.

He rolled his sad, but still beautiful eyes at her teasing.

- You wish, princess. - He stayed quiet a little more, trying to find his words. - It's just - He sighed. - It's just my stepdad, he's just a piece of shit.

She just stayed quiet trying to give him space to work his feelings out.

- He's a fucking jerk, always robbing in his money on my nose, treating my mom like shit. - He's hands were closed in a fist, she nodded that his knuckles were white. - If I could just kick his ass once and make sure he'll never talk to her like that - He sighed. - But my mother prefers that I don't interfere.

Y/N just looked at him, suddenly his all attitude made sense.

- But today, he... - Johnny closed his jaw. - He slapped her and I couldn't hold myself and punched him. But my mom - He's eyes were filled with sadness. - She defended him, she told me that I shouldn't have done that. So I left. And I just left, like a fucking pussy I-I should've stayed, what if he hit her again? I- Y/N put her hands over his making him look at her.

- It's not your fault, Johnny. - He stared at her, his eyes wined open. - And that was nothing else you could've done.

- I should've protected her. - He said looking at his shoes.

She held his hands a little tighter.

- You did, Johnny. And after you punched that pig, I doubt that he'll have the courage to hit her again. You have a really strong fist, you know? - She said trying to make him feel better and bumping her shoulder into his.

He looked at her with a tiny smirk on his lips.

- Did you just call me strong? - She rolled his eyes at him.

- Hey, you were feeling bad, I was just trying to make you feel better.

- It doesn't change the fact that you think I'm strong. - He said teasing her.

- Oh, get over yourself, Lawrence.

They laughed a little and just stared at each other for a moment and Johnny noticed his heartbeat went fast and that she still had her hands over his, he coughed and forced himself to look away and that made her let his hands go.

He immediately missed the feeling.

- So... I guess that's it. - He said and stared at her with a smile as he got up. - Thank you, Y/N.

- You're welcome, Johnny. - She smiled back at him, getting up too. - So do you have any idea of what to do now? Because I don't think it's a good idea for you to get back there tonight.

- I don't know, I think I will see if I can crash at one of the boys. - He said and she nodded, not really wanting say goodbye.

She knew once the night was over they would be back at each other's throats and honestly, she didn't want the night to end.
