I slowly walk in my crouched position careful not to stand on anything that could make a sound. I weave through the trees keeping my head low as I keep my eyes set on my target, the radiated deer that stands in the middle of the clearing in front of me.
I lean my back against a tree as I swiftly load my bow with an arrow. I hold the bow up with the arrow resting against my cheek as I aim at the deer holding my breath. In one quick action the arrow has breezed through the air and is stuck in the deers chest, striking it straight in the heart killing it painlessly.
I stand from my position and jog over to the deer claiming it as my kill so no one else can. I remove the arrow with a heave and blood spurts out, I take my dagger out and stab into the mammal skinning it.

I walk back into the cave with the skinned deer strung over my shoulder ready to be cooked, I look at Lincoln who is sat beside the fire grimacing in pain as he sets up the flames to be cooked on. "You should be resting," I tell him trying to speak strong but my voice falters as my palms sweat, he was dead but now he is sat in front of him. I got him killed!
I force myself to calm down when he looks up at me shocked by the fact I am standing in front of him also, "I figured you were hunting so I thought I would make it easier for you..." He trails off as he looks back at the cooking area he has set up above the fire. I smile and breath out before walking to the fire and placing the animal on Lincoln's apparatus allowing it to start cooking.
I sit back against the stone cave wall as I watch Lincoln tend to the wound on his hand. I laugh a breathy laugh which forces him to look up at me, "you were dead..." I trail off as our eyes lock over the flames. "I watched him kill you!" I shout suddenly standing to my feet with tears in my eyes. Lincoln stays on the ground shaking his head, "I'm hurt that you think I could be so easily killed and by Jacob as well." Lincoln chuckles but I don't show any emotion as I try to comprehend the fact that my brother, who's death I blamed on myself, has been alive all this time. "Why didn't you come find me?" I whisper as I blink back the tears in my eyes. Lincoln looks over at me and he must see the pain that his death put me through, "I did, for the first month afterwards I looked for you everywhere but -" Lincoln begins explaining his story but my screaming interupts him, "I was with our old clan! You didn't look hard enough!" I turn to the wall as I run my fingers through my unbraided hair as I try to control my emotions. "I couldn't show my face there...they thought I was dead," Lincoln speaks and I can hear the pain in his voice, "I thought you were dead." I mumble with my back still facing him but I know he heard me because I hear him sighing.
"You didn't want me to know you were alive did you?" I ask my voice breaking as my throat fights the sobs that ache to be let out, I turn to face him when he is silent and I see that he is struggling with this as well, "you still hated me because of what I did, didn't you?" I ask him keeping my voice low as I control the anger and sadness brewing inside me. Lincoln nods slowly and I breath out a shaky breath and shake my head. "Well she's dead Lincoln! You were the last family I had and you pretended to be dead." I say raising my voice once more allowing a single tear to fall down my cheek but I quickly wipe it not allowing Lincoln to see me that weak. Lincoln sighs one more time, "You're the reason she's dead Lexa!" He suddenly yells, his emotionless exterior breaking into pieces as I see the tears in his eyes. I jump back at his sudden outburst and open my mouth to speak but he cuts me off when he continues yelling, "You're the one that listened to her screams as she burned alive!" He stands to his feet as his anger fuels him more and more, however my strength vanishes and my knees give way forcing me to fall to the ground in a crumple, "I know, I know I killed her..." I trail off admitting to Lincoln what I had admitted to myself years ago. Everything I have been holding in for years suddenly breaking me as I let a loud sob fall from my lips followed by the tears I refused to cry from the moment my mother died to now.
