John appeared just as Sunny was finishing the story and the lights started to dim. You were sitting at the security desk, playing with the mouse, learning what the computer had to offer. With all the touring and one on one time that you had with Sunny and Moon, you hadn't had the time to check out the computer at all since you got there that morning.

While you were looking through the applications on it that seemed to be used to check in and check out the kids, John came behind you and poked your shoulder making you jump slightly.

"Hey hey, how are you feeling about your first day? Are you ready?"

John asked, looking you up and down. It wasnt in a creepy manner, and you couldn't feel any malice from John, but your skin still broke out in goosebumps. The action had triggered a memory, and you tried to move past it by responding to the man:

"Yeah, definitely. I'm excited to be here. It doesnt seem too bad and the kids are adorable, even if they dont understand boundaries"

You ran your hand through your hair and gave John a small smile. Your hand accidentally pushed the headband and made it fall down your face, sitting on your nose. John chuckled and plucked it off of your face, placing it back on your head.

"The uniform suits you. A very bright uniform for a very sunny and bright young person."

John was considerate and remembered that you didnt like to be labeled with a specific gender, and it brought joy to your heart. A lot of people didnt care or even try to pretend to care about pronouns, so the fact that someone you just met was doing it right, really made a difference. The kids didnt know any better, so you were letting them off the hook for now, eventually they would understand, when you decided it was important to have them address you by your correct pronouns.

You smiled and whispered a thank you, looking down at yourself. You gave a small sway-twist of your hips to show off how the shirt was flowy and giggled.

"I think Sunny agrees too by the looks of it"

John pointed out and nodded his head towards where Sunny was. He was staring in your direction, and when he noticed he had been caught staring, he turned and ran into the corner out of sight.

"alright, lets get through the tedious stuff, and then you can officially begin."

-30 minutes later-

"...and then you have to make sure that the child matches with the parent on file, otherwise, do not give the child away- a past employee didnt follow protocol and we had a massive lawsuit, but the child made it back with the parent. Im sure I dont need to emphasize how important it is that you follow this here. Then behind you is the charger for the fazwatch and I think thats all there is for me to show you, everything else, Sunny will be the one to ask."

Nearing the end of the lesson, a man showed up at the daycare, calling to John.

You wrote down the order of operations for how the daycare was supposed to work, and sat back as John finished the lesson. The way that the check-in and check-out system was programmed was pretty easy to follow, but John had made certain to show you what to do if the system crashed or there was a problem with the lights or the projector for the movies. Everything that could crash and be fixed by you, and not need someone from maintenance, he showed you.

With a smile and a pat on the back, John started to leave the daycare, wishing you luck.

"Oh wait!" You called out, running to catch him before he past the daycare threshold.

"I had the maintenance manual on the desk when I first got here I dont think I have the skillset required to do maintenance on Sunny and I have a feeling that Moon wont let me do anything either..."
