Lola raced out the front door of the cabin with Emmitt close behind. "Hold on Sweetness!" He exclaimed as he attempted to keep up with the racing vampire. "By the river." She whispered to herself before turning at the sound of running water, and continuing to sprint. When she finally reached the river, she came upon a horrific scene. Dozens of trees were tore down, blood was splattered throughout fallen leaves. Emmitt was beside her in no time, equally shocked at the scene before him. "This doesn't look goo.." He lost focus when he spotted the corpse of a large grizzly bear on the opposite side of the river. "Holy crap!" He said in astonishment. "At least she got to eat." Lola said in a nonchalant tone, knowing her sister loves the challenge. Suddenly Winter was able to be seen in Lola's mind. She was back at the cabin reading her favorite book by candlelight, but she wasn't alone. Edward was sitting in the back of the living room, keeping a watchful eye on the irritated vampire until Lola's return. "Why is your brother in my house?" Lola demanded, fiercely angry at the whole situation. Emmitts face grew into confusion before the two sprinted back to the cabin.

Lola ran past Edward, who was waiting on the front porch, and all but tackled Winter. Frantically asking her of her wellbeing and details while the two men conversed outside.

"What happened?" Emmitt asked Edward.

"I knew something was wrong."

"Because you couldn't hear her thoughts? Or because of your infatuation?"

"I'm not sure." Edward replied after looking down in shame.

"I saw that massacre back there. What was that?"

"By the time I had arrived, she was inches from touching this man. And I knew her abilities are dangerous."

****************

"What happened? I couldn't see you!!"

"After I hunted, best grizzly of the year by the way, he appeared out of thin air."

"So is he your creator?"

Winter nodded. "Yes, and I found out his name."

"Well..."

"His name is Tristan Woods, and he's the reason we are who we are. For the longest time I held such hatred for him, but now.."

Winter trailed off, unable to construct a simple sentence that would properly word how she was now feeling. All she knew was he wasn't their initial threat and she no longer wished him a painful end.

Emmitt entered the cabin once more, huffing from a heated argument he had just finished with Edward. "Ok, so we decided that Edward and I will take turns keeping watch over your cabin.." he attempted to give elaborate details on the matter but was quickly cut off by both girls ranting in unison about how they didn't need a babysitter and how the were technically their elders. Once they began to recite Walt Whitman as if he was a mentor from their childhood, the two men thought it best to let them win the battle but not the war.

Somehow Emmitt convinced the two sisters to allow them to keep them company until sunrise. Edward kept outside, secretly hoping Tristan would make an appearance. Emmitt and Lola played chess by the fireplace while trading stories of different prey they had over the years. Winter sat on the roof of the cabin, no gloves on and feeling the dampened leaves scattered as far as her eyes could see.

"You think you can beat me, Sweetness?" Emmitt said with a smile.

"I might, you shall have to wait and behold my intelect."

"What's your story? Your REAL story."

Lola narrowed her eyes as she studied the board. 'If I move that knight there, then my queen is exposed to his bishop.' She thought to herself before spotting her queen side rook was able to take his knight.

"Well my story is really OUR story." She spoke as she looked up to the ceiling, felling her sisters presenceon the roof. Knowing her story begins where Winters ends. "It's best we both tell it." Lola finished by meeting his gaze.

Winter studied the constellations as her senses focused souly on the leaves beneath her palms. Having ths wear gloves on a daily basis deprived her of the sense of touch. Not being even being able to hug her own sister, or anyone for over a hundred years was a slow form of torture.

As the sun began to peak over the horizon, Winter was startled by a familiar baritone voice. "Snow." He whispered into her ear, close enough to feel his breath on her neck. Her eyes naturally closed as the words left his lips and his large hand slid across her collarbone, resting over her scar. Soothing the phantom burning sensation that hadn't left her since the day she was reborn.

Once Winter was aware of his hand being on her skin she pulled away. Unaware if she was just in shock, or she fantasized the entire thing.

"EMMITT!!" Edward yelled, standing behind Tristan at the opposite end of the cabin. In the blink of an eye Emmitt and Lola were on the roof. Emmitt and Edward charged at Tristan, begining a pursuit into the woods. Lola went to her sister's side, attempting to figure out what was happening.
