fter Emmett rushed off with Lola in his arms like a freshly married bride being carried across the threshold, he finally placed her on her feet after what felt like only a few minutes.

"Wow," Lola looked around in awe at what looked like the most extravagant flowers growing in the middle of the woods, "I've not seen this place before." Emmett pulled her to his side as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders while leading her to the middle of the meadow. "It's only beautiful this time of year. I wanted you to see it for yourself." He found a spot on the ground to sit and pulled Lola into his lap as he made himself comfortable. The more Lola spent with Emmett, the more she fell for him..and she was falling hard, which has never happened in her entire life. Lola wrapped her legs around his waist while lightly resting her arms around his neck so she could look at him better.

"I need to tell you something," she spoke softly after a moment of enjoyable silence, "but I don't want to scare you away." Emmett gently tilted her head up so their eyes locked, "Nothing you say or do will run me off. I care about you too damn much to let you slip through my fingers." Lola let out a sigh of relief after hearing those words before speaking what was on her mind. "I know we have not known each other long and that is why I'm having a rough time saying this. I am falling for you, harder than ever." Emmett was taken by surprise as he heard Lola confirming exactly how he felt. "You aren't the only one, Sweetness. I haven't said anything yet because I was afraid of you not sharing the same feelings and I wasn't about to rush you into anything you weren't comfortable with." Lola smiled sweetly. A feeling flowed through Lola making her crave his lips that were the perfect shade of rose red that complemenying his dark brown hair. No matter how wide his smile was his lips remained full and luscious.

"How'd you become the wonderful woman you are today?" Emmett casually asked Lola as she slid off his lap and into the grass.

"Well," Lola began while looking into his memorizing eyes, "do you want to short version or the long version?"

"I'll accept whatever you'd like to share with me. I'm not gonna force you into anything." He gently took her hand into his and lightly twirled his thumb around in circles.

Nodding in acceptance, Lola continued on, "Summer in Belfast was always my favorite season. So one hot summer day in 1736, Winter and I decided to play a round of hide and seek. It was her turn to find me so I hid in the best place I knew, our hayloft. I stayed up in that hot barn for what felt like hours. She never came because Tristan got to her before she could."

"Tristan? As in from school?" Emmett interrupted.

"That's correct.. but by nightfall she had found me. She was covered in blood, her favorite white dress drenched down the front. She saved me for last but by the time she bit into me, her appetite was quenched and wasn't able to finish me off. Turns out all the blood that I had assumed was from just random farm animals, was actually the blood of our five older brothers, both our parents and the six farm hands." Lola looked off into the distance, searching for the last moment she felt human.

"Lola.." was all Emmett said before pulling her out of her trance. There was nothing Emmett could say or do to change the past, his silent acknowledgment was enough to comfort Lola, whether he was aware of it or not. Lola slightly pulled herself away, gazing into Emmett's eyes before she felt her attention go elsewhere, his full lips. She slid one of her hands behind his neck, gently pulling herself back onto his lap and closing the small distance between them. Lola had longed for his lips against her own, more than she had ever realized. A quick but slow kiss was all Lola managed to do before she noticed what happened and began to pulled away once more. Her attempt to retreat from his lap was haulted by Emmett's strong hands grasping her hips and forcing her to remain as he deepened the kiss. A desire neither knew they could feel in this life. Emmett broke the kiss, holding her face in his hand as if it were his last chance. "God, you're beautiful." He whispered before kissing her one last time.
