Some people say that having rich parents and a big house is like having the best thing in the world. Sometimes you could say that it is true, but for Annalise Johnson, this makes her life a living hell.
"Milo, hon, get up," I whispered, shaking my little brother awake. He stirred, breathing in through his nose tiredly before slowly opening his eyes. He was a good morning person and I was grateful for that because I was never late for school. He wasn't a very talkative kid and didn't usually say many sentences.
"Morning momma," Milo whispered sitting up.
I don't know why but out of nowhere he'd been calling me mom. He knew that Sarah was his mom and that I was his sister but he still decided to call me mom.
I helped him up and walked over to his closet.
"What do you want to wear today?" I asked picking him up so he could see.
He pointed to a grey hoodie and I grabbed them, walking over to his drawer, and grabbing a pair of black shorts for him. I helped him change and quickly fixed his hair, causing him to scrunch up his face slightly. I laughed and he pouted not liking being laughed at.
"What do you want for breakfast?" I asked, grabbing his backpack for him.
"Waffles?" he said, although it was more of a question.
He'd always been quiet and the doctor said that it was okay he was just not a talker. He'd rarely said more than 5 or 6 words in a sentence and I think it's partly because of the lifestyle that he's grown up in.
"I can do that. Why don't you go sit down and I'll bring it to you okay?" I ordered, pushing him lightly in the direction of the kitchen table.
Sarah, his mom, walked down the stairs yawning before staring at me. She worked from home for a company that I didn't care to remember because she never actually worked.
Once I finished making mine and Milos's breakfast I realized that we both would be late for school if we didn't leave now.
"Milo, we gotta leave now. Can you eat in the car?"
"Mhm," he nodded getting up from his spot. I smiled before picking up his backpack and grabbing my waffle I had made and put it in my school bag.
I picked up Milo, taking him to my car. On the way out I grabbed my book bag and phone, along with car keys of course.
Unlocking my car, I put my things in the passenger seat and quickly strapped Milo in his car seat in the back. I made sure he was all strapped in before making my way to the driver's seat. I hopped in, putting the keys in the ignition. I drove out of the driveway, slowly making my way down the neighborhood watching for kids getting to their bus stops. Once out of the neighborhood I sped up and quickly arrived at Milo's preschool.
I put the car in park getting out to unstrap Milo. When I unstrapped him, he started tearing up, hugging me.
"What's wrong bub?" I asked softly.
"I don't feel good," he whined.
"What hurts?"
He rubbed his stomach and his little face broke my heart.
