Having a sleepover with Sam in my living room was quite the eye opening experience.
No, nothing happened.
I wouldn't dream of being that rude to Cam and Serina.
But we did end up stretched out on the couch, all cuddled up and snuggled together in a way that I hadn't been snuggled and cuddled by a boyfriend for a good deal of time. It was nice. And to be honest, he was reluctant to let me up in the morning, going as far as to say that he wished we could just stay on the couch all day that particular day.
So eye opening in the fact that we enjoyed each other's company even when there was nothing else going on.
Which has meant, for the past week, that Sam actually decided to just stay over after dates. If we went out, Cam was working the night shift anyway and we accepted that opportunity. And realistically, Cam had ended up on an entire week of night shifts because one of the night shift managers had been fired so he was covering the shift while training the new manager.
So there'd been more than one date that was absolutely just getting food at a favorite spot and going straight home to put a movie on and cuddle on the couch.
There were more than a few layers of clothing that were tending to disappear and I was finding out an awful lot about how Sam liked to be touched in a, erm, getting handsy sort of way.
Were we taking advantage of an opportunity? Absolutely.
Serina's family was arriving tomorrow and we actually wouldn't have much of a chance to have him stay overnight. He didn't have to hang around so much while her husband was around but he was supposed to be available in case they wanted to go out for a late night of dancing or getting drinks or a late meal somewhere. So we were going to have some time for dates but his job description was a little different when there were extra people to provide security for.
"Plans tomorrow?" I glanced up at Sam and smiled.
"Pardon? Are you checking to see if your girlfriend is available?"
He grinned. "That's right. I sure am."
"I thought we were going to have to back off and stand down for a bit?" I asked, shifting the cupcakes I was working on to pipe rosettes on the rest of them. I'd promised Serina that I'd make her cupcakes for her family time and I needed to finish them so Sam could take them back to the penthouse when he went back tonight.
"Well, yes, sort of. We'll discuss some plans for the next few weeks tomorrow." He promised. "But I wanted to give them their first night. She hasn't been able to put her baby to bed for months and private time with her husband will be a lot less awkward if I'm just not IN the penthouse, you know? So Cam's working tomorrow anyway so I thought that we could hang out and maybe I could stay over if it's okay with you."
"I'd be happy to have you stay over." I smiled, leaning forward and kissing him gently. "That's never a problem to be honest. You're welcome anytime."
"Bonus points if Cam's not home." He teased.
"Oh definite extra credit for that nice bit of planning." I nodded, quickly finishing up the piping on the cupcakes and tossing on a few sprinkles before I stepped away. "Okay, those are done but they could use a little time for the icing to firm up just a bit so it doesn't manage to slide off the cupcakes."
"Oh, a little time? Whatever are we going to do?" He mocked, his hand at his neck as if clutching a string of pearls.
I snorted. "Stop being shocked. You came here willingly. It's not like I'm going to bend you to my will and do unspeakably horrible things to you."
