Chapter Five

The next thing I knew, there were loud sirens of ambulance and police cars. Not men in uniform came, but also some people wearing suits that are saying news in front of a camera came rushing in the scenario. I didn't know what did I do to summon these people. I didn't know if I called for emergency or if it is Ara, Auntie Charlie's daughter who called. Looking at the house with these many people reminds me of the early years back when Pisces Cake was starting the business. Only the difference is, they were swarming over the caution signs instead of the pastries and cakes. I can clearly remember the way she lay downs while her eyes shut off. How she holds the pills tighly and how it scattered on the floor. Both the police and the medical team said that it was suicide. They said that Auntie Charlie overdosed Fantasy Pills. But I don't believe them. I know Auntie Charlie more than them who are just strangers who happen to get it because of a tragedy. I know Auntie Charlie won't do that. She was murdered. Someone must have force her to drink those pills. Someone is behind this. I tried telling them but they won't believe.

I tried not to cry, but the tears will found its way out eventually. It kinda feels empty inside. I feel weak. I feel weak because my head hurts and my bones are giving up because of the recent scenarios. I temporarily lost someone yesterday but today, I lost permanently lost someone.

Someone tapped my shoulder and I looked behind. It was a policemen holding some kind of notebook. He looks like investigating the scenario. "Are you Miss Red Samson?" He asked and I nod. "Are you the first one to saw this?" He asked.

"As far as I know, I think yes." I responded as he take notes.

"What are your relationship with Mrs. Charlie Marson?"

I stopped. I couldn't decide whether to tell him that she is my aunt but not the biological way. "Not-blood relative but she's friends with my mother making me close to her."

"Why did you go to her house?"

"I just wanted to pay a visit. Maybe just a little talk of what is happening to her since her business was closed yesterday." I said with a bitter tone because of mentioning the closing.

"What happened to her business?"

"It was permanently closed because of her old age and also because of bankruptcy." I told her. I gulped by remembering the reason why.

"How did you enter her house?" He asked as the atmosphere is getting very seriously.

"I kicked the door so I can enter it."

"So you broke into someone's premises without permission?"

I raised an eyebrow at him, "Excuse me but I wasn't a somebody, I know Auntie Charlie personal since I was young. I know her long before you know about her today. And who would I ask permission with? Nobody is at home except Auntie Charlie. Should I ask permission at the air? If ever you are thinking that I am the bad guy here then can you please reverse your thinking and remember that if I didn't call for emergency then you wouldn't rush here and if you aren't going to rush here then you will have no...some kind of... salary! Yes, salary!" I said and I looked back as I saw Auntie Charlie being put inside the ambulance as she was about to be deliver to the morgue. I heard that Ara is planning to cremate Auntie Charlie. I would like a burial so I could visit her but what can I do since blood is thicker than water. "I just want you to catch the culprit." I said as i brush off my tear.

"A culprit? Was there an intruder? Did you saw it?"

"No. But I believe there is."

It's past 5 PM and almost everyone is out. I can still feel head aches as my bones weaken. I can feel my eyes swelling up since my eyes got tired of tearing up. I am still outside the house. Ara came out of the door and talked to me, "I need to talk to you." She said. I was surprised, Ara and I haven't talk for long time. Ara was Auntie Charlie's youngest daughter who's age is just the same as mine. So I followed her as I got inside her house. The claims of this house will be passed to the sisters but none of them will benefit. Moira, Ara's older sister has now a condominium unit at The City while Ara is gonna go to college. I do hope that they do not sell this house because of all the memories cherished, it will be hard to let go.

We reached into Auntie Charlie's room where she is found dead. It was already cleaned up as if there's no crime that happened. Ara grabbed a plushie that was on top of the cabinet. It was a hand-sewn plushie that must have been sewn by a fifteen years old or younger Ara. She unstitched it and a camera was revealed inside. The lens of the camera is on the eyes of the plushie. She removed the memory card inside the camera and we proceeded to her room. She turned on the laptop and as it was starting, Ara closed the windows and door. She even turned of the lights. My heart beats fast. I feel like Nancy Drew who is gonna reveal some kind of secret and is uncertain if her feels scared, angry, sad or just plain curious. She opens a file that shows a footage inside Auntie Charlie's room. "I set this up two weeks after dad's death so I might have to skip some events." Ara said. It is no doubt that Ara knows much about this since she is a computer engineer student. Her program offers her a wide knowledge on technology and robotics. The event was skipped to what happened earlier.

Auntie Charlie is just plainly sleeping. It was quiet and peaceful until it was cut by noises. Noises that meant shattering, burning, and destruction. Auntie Charlie woke up and walked out of the scene to see what's with the racket. Minutes passed and there was shouting and screaming. Few minutes, Auntie Charlie came back to the scene but she's not all alone. They is some kind of guy in a black suit whose identity is being covered by a black face mask dragging Auntie Charlie by the hair like a rag doll. The guy threw Auntie Charlie in the bed and force her to drink the pills. Right after the moment Auntie Charlie closed her eyes, the culprit garnished the scene to make it look like Auntie Charlie commited suicide.

 I was right after all.
