Chapter Ten
"Ladies and Gentlemen, You are currently at The City, a utopia for you! We are arriving at Terminal two. Make sure that your things are in place especially your Golden cards so that you can enter the premises. Be aware of the different rules in The City! And don't forget, have fun wandering at The City! We are now at Terminal two. I repeat, we are now at Terminal two."
Right after hearing the voice from the PA system, I stood up and walked out of the train. In the end, I decided to go to Neo-Wisdom. The death benefit may be the reason but it is not only that, I also wanted answers. I want justice. I am wearing all black. A black camisole dress and a black pair of flat shoes, a black old-school watch, and the perfect killer: the engagement ring. I let my hair be. I brought a purse that only contains the letter from Neo-Wisdom and of course, my wallet.
I checked my watch:WEDNESDAY, 9:32 AM
It's only a walking distance between Neo-Wisdom and Terminal two. Maybe a 2-minute walk will do. As usual, the streets are busy. There are people on their way to their jobs. Some are wandering. The fashion statement of The City hasn't changed. They still looked cover with fabric and colorful colors even if the sun is striking. I kinda feel left out since I feel like I am the only one wearing short sleeved clothes here but nevertheless, I promise myself not to waste too muct time in Neo-Wisdom.
I stopped in fron the tallest building in The City. I looked at the other dimension. I looked at the world that Fantasy Pill created. It feels like watching The City but the only difference is the hype. In the other dimension, it looked more advance even if it is just the same. The people in the other dimension (that came from the present dimension) looked more happy and contented with their life there. Unlike here, you might see happy faces but those are all mask to cover their different sadness and stress. I shook my head. I didn't came here to admire the stupid beauty of the Fantasy world.
I was about to enter the premises but a bulky, tall guard blocked my way. "Where is your ID, mam?" he asked me.
"Sorry, I don't have."
"Do you have any appoitments made?"
"None."
"Mam, I am sorry but we cannot let y-" I flashed him the letter that made him stop. Then he step on the side and spoke, "Just keep walking mam until you see the information desk."
I entered the premises. Everything looks advance inside. There were holograms of Neo-Wisdom's progress and history. Surely, the walls are made of concreate metal. Golden chandeliers hung by the ceiling. However, the floor seems vulnerable because it feels like walking on glass. But nonetheless, the apperance of their lobby is far beyond my expectation.
There are people dressed in uniform. Some are in their office uniform and researcher uniform. Office uniforms are casual clothes with a pinned badge of Neo-Wisdom on the right side. Researcher uniforms have the dark blue lab coats but they have different colors of undershirts inside the coats.
At the end, I saw a black stall. There is this girl that looks like a concierge. She seems to be checking on her hologram computer. Her blonde hair tied into ponytail and her blue eyes focused on the hologram. "Excuse me," I called to caught her attention which worked. "Where is the customer service area here?"
"Oh, I am sorry but the customer service opens at 10AM so you have like 26 more minutes to spare," she said. "For the meantime, you can join our tourist group there to tour the Neo-Wisdom building. It will only take 30 minutes so suit yourself." She said, pointing to the group of teenagers being lined up into four by a man in a uniform.
"But, I thought that touring here is not allowed?"
"Well, you can tour here if you have an appointment made. Since your appointment isn't set yet, maybe I can make you a petition to squish in to the appointed tour for the science geeks there. The only thing that isn't allowed is a surprise tour."
