"you doing anything after school?" Allison hummed to august as they walked out from their French class.
"I um no..." august said, no one has really ever asked her that apart form her sisters which she was used to, but she guessed now she'll have to get used to this. "I meat no i'm not, so unless I get called into work for an emergency which hopefully is unlikely." august said awkwardly.
"you sound like no one ever has asked you that before." Allison laughed as the stopped at their lockers to drop off their things grabbing their bag and coat to leave.
"well Lydia has never really liked me much so if I tried making friends with someone she would come and ruin it and poison them with her popularity and bitchy-ness." august said which sounded like she was joking but she was far from joking.
"you two really dont get on then? I mean if shes had it out for you to ruin all possible friendship she must really hate you for what not sure." Allison said as the closed up their lockers before strolling down the hall out to the car park.
"hey! August wait!" a voice called out after them as the walked out to the cars. august looked up at Allison furrowing her brows before they both spun around looking for who the voice came from. "yes you august just wait." he yelled.
"can I help you?" august asked when she realised who he was, it was the buzz cut boy from their English class who she had sat next to since middle school.
"I um I just wanted to uh say hi..." he said scratching the back of his neck nervously. "and I was wondering if you were doing anything around eight tonight?" he asked her.
"hi, Allison." Allison introduced her self holding her hand out, he quickly accepted thing her hand back. august could see straight through Allison she could tell what she was doing the whole introducing herself thing was all just so august was told his name.
"yeah I know, stiles stlinski." he nodded turning back to the shorted brunette. "so what do you say?" he asked her again.
"I um, maybe get you're number first?" she suggested, this was the longest interaction that they had ever had in all there years of sitting next to each other. "here..." august smiled handing stiles her phone open on new contacts. he quickly typed all his details in smiling as he handed it back to her.
she looked down at her phone seeing he had already messaged himself on her phone so he would have her number in his phone but in her contacts she realised his name on her phone he put himself down as 'Stiles 💙' her head quickly flipped up to see him.
"I'll text you?" he smiled before waling off to his jeep where a shaggy haired boy was waiting in the passenger seat.
"look at you. you have a new bestie and a guy thats into you all on your first day of sophomore year!" Allison smiled at her nudging her slightly as they walked to lean on Junes bonnet of her car.
"OI asshole watch the car would you!" august heard June yell as her and may walked out of the school doors.
"oh sorry." Allison said jumping up straight from where they were leaning making august laugh.
"she was talking to me." august laughed as she scrunched up her face. "June, may this is Allison. Allison these are my sisters June and may." august said introducing them all, June just stood there her eyes squinting as her eyebrows furrowed together looking between august and Allison.
"so you're telling me you are friends with august?" June asked suspiciously.
"well yeah, I've made her my best friend..." Allison smiled awkwardly at the oldest cailleach sister. which made June and may's eyes widen in shock. "why do you have to look so surprised?" Allison asked offended.
"its just we didn't think she would even you know make a friend today let alone a bets friend and your new right?" may spoke up rather rudely too.
"um rude and way to make me sound pathetic. trust me not the most surprising thing that happened today." august said still in shock over what had happened just before June and may had arrived. "Im pretty sure I got asked out, i'm not going out with him I only just learned his name, thank you Allison by the way." august smiled thankfully at her newly found best friend.
"really no problem-" Allison spoke before her phone began to ring like crazy. "crap sorry its my mom I have to go I've missed ten texts!" she said checking her phone. "I'll see you tomorrow." Allison smiled answering her phone as she backed away slowly to walk off to her car.
"so you did it you really did it you made a friend I guess two effectively" June said proudly as they all walked to the different doors of the car to climb on in.
"I really did." august hummed as they all sat in the car closing the car doors.
august never thought it would happen her making friends or a friend today or this year to be honest she just always assumed Lydia would never let it happen, she still wished for Lydia to stop using the stupid nickname she gave her in third grade though, but for the first day of sophomore year she thought she had done enough hoping and wishing.
"is he cute?" may spoke up form the back seat as everyone in the car buckled themselves in.
"may!" august squeaked in shock of her sisters sudden question. but clearly may wanted an answer as she sat there in the back arms crossed over her chest waiting for her answer. "yeah I guess he is, he seems sweet too." august said answering mays question.
"do you think you'll ever go out with him?" may continued to ask letting her curiosity get the better of her.
"I dont know I barely know they guy, I feel I might just want to get to know him as a friend before I even think about ever going out with him." august sighed as she leaned back in the passenger seat. and just like that her phone pinged lighting up with his name.
reading; hey I feel like you seemed surprised by what I asked. sorry if I came off weird I just would like to get to know you, feel that we should considering we've sat next to each other in English now since the fourth grade.
she read it though smiling slightly at his message as June and may chattered while the drove around the carpark to the exit.
august quickly started to reply typing up her message reading it all before sending it off to him reading; surprised yes, but I think it would be a good idea to at least know each other, it just feels wrong that we have sat next to each other for nearly six years now and not talked much.
and just as she sent the message off she quickly closed the app and switch doff her phone plugging a headphone in blasting surprisingly 'august by Taylor swift' of course.
