0.3 (You think I'm cute? Not even close Potter)

Polaris woke up and couldn't be more confused. Why was she thinking of him? What made him so special? She ignored her thoughts as she dressed in uniform and curled her hair. Taking care of herself. Looking presentable was her favorite part of the morning. She was leaving in a rush to not be late. She arrived at the Great Hall ready for breakfast as the girl was extremely hungry.

She was struck with awe and delight as the once peaceful Great Hall was now a winter wonderland. Chaos in every inch of the room as snow fell and people lay down to create snow angels and have snowball fights. The Ravenclaw table used to be held as a makeshift ice rink where kids could figure skate around. Even the teachers seemed to be having fun with this prank which was uncommon. Her hunger dissipated at the sight of all the fun she could have, a marauder prank gone right for once.

"You like what you see," James said with a playful grin upon his cold red face which had gotten redder with each moment he spent in the Great Hall. The cold air was eating at his exposed skin.

"How did you even manage to do this," Polaris asked awe still struck on her face, wonder and curiosity glowed off her energy. It was as if her inner child was healing.

"That's a secret I'll never tell love," He responded with a wink grabbing her hand and pulling her to the ice rink hoping he didn't just make the worst mistake of his life. Calling her love was one risk and to grabbed her arm as well. He barely knew the girl yet something compelled him to her. The way she was so restricted yet carefree. It attracted him in a way he couldn't place an emotion to.

"James what no I'm going to fall" she responded yelling and laughing at him a blush hidden beneath the cold redness of her face from the snow around. She hadn't even processed the name he had called her. She also failed to register her use of her first name. Something that meant the world and the beginning of change for James.

"Don't worry I'll catch you always" James said sincerely smiling and allowing himself to relax in her presence. This was a moment he didn't know he needed, yet once he had it, he didn't want it to ever have to end.

The pair skated around holding hands so neither would fall smiling as they did so very content. The rest of the students started to notice and watch them. They were whispering and talking about how cute they looked. Some even began trying to speculate if the pair had some sort of thing during the summer break. It wasn't a common occurrence to see the two get along let alone be nice towards each other.

The two didn't seem to notice or mind the attention at first but a certain redhead did. Something about watching the boy who has been chasing after her for the past five years suddenly not even notice her presents stung. Like a sharp pain in her chest that wouldn't go away. Is this what jealousy feels like? It shouldn't matter to Lily as this was just some random Slytherin girl, right? She wasn't someone James could ever truly care for. At least that's how Lily viewed the situation. Lily turned her attention to a raven-haired Slytherin boy whom she had been friends with since childhood.

"James why is everyone staring at us," Polaris asked with a soft and hidden anxious tone soon letting go of his hand in fear of what would happen if this got back to her family.

The thought of being caught with someone marked as a blood traitor was terrifying. It could mean punishment or worse being disowned. That was death for someone of Polaris' status and she couldn't allow that to happen to herself. They would never approve of her dating a blood traitor like the Potters. Even if it was misconstrued she could find herself in deep trouble which she tried to avoid at all costs.

He shrugged sadly as she let go of his hand and started skating away. She turned around and winked at him before exiting the Great Hall with immense joy leaping out of her chest and back into her heart. He stood there shocked and blushing while the Great Hall started to flood making him laugh as students ran out. This girl had a hold of his heart and he was ready to give it to her with the cosmos and beyond.

Remus walked over to James dragging him to Herbology with a look of annoyance. He being the most responsible did not want to see his friend's head on a silver platter. Especially when the boy had done something nice for a change to a girl Remus had wanted to become acquainted with.

"You know Padfoot would kill you if you got with his cousin right," Remus asked monotone bored and hiding his amusement caused by James' stupidity.

"Yeah, yeah I know I just can't help it Moony her smile is gorgeous and she's better than anyone I've ever had my eyes on" he smiled cheekily thinking about the girl made him extremely giddy, like a golden retriever almost. The way he acted about her made it seem like he had cared about her for a while, and maybe he secretly did and misjudged it as something else.

Remus sighed putting on earmuffs ready for class, James following shortly after. The moment he walked into class he instantly started goofing off as per usual, making Remus give him a look of annoyance before going to his workstation. Polaris walked in smiling softly thinking about the memories from moments before. The pure joy which coursed through her veins as she skated with James. She saw what he was doing and shot him a look of concern as he stuck his hand near a very hungry-looking fanged geranium baby. Within moments the baby plant bites' the poor boy making him yelp in pain and startling Professor Beery. Alerting the poor Professor someone had done something wrong.

"Oh dear Mr. Potter please head over to Madam Pomfrey; Ms. White please escort him out shall you dear?" the professor said worried with a soft comforting smile one of which Polaris tried returning as she nodded her head quickly. Just my luck, Polaris thought to herself.

The pair walked in silence but Polaris feeling comfortable held onto James one good hand as they arrived making him blush. No matter how much pain he was in he was too focused on the girl's little bits of attention she was feeding him. He knew he'd grow hungry for more but he tried to stay patient.

"Madam Pomfrey he got bit by a baby fanged geranium," she said as Madam Pomfrey rushed over dragging James to a bed and forcing the pair to let their hands drop from each other once more

"Thank you dear you can stay for a moment lunch is almost starting but after that, you have to get to class," she said running around looking for potions while Polaris nodded smiling at the kind woman. Madam Pomfrey was always a savior. Taking care of everyone no matter what, was inspirational.

"Ok admit it you think I'm cute right now," James said with a wink causing Polaris to blush from both the statement and the setting they were in. The way he managed to make her feel like she was hopelessly falling in love was peculiar yet she enjoyed it.

She responded with a grin causing him to pout which made the girl smile even wider "Not even close Potter"

"Back to last name basis are we love?" he asked with a frown assuming the worst. He could very easily messed up somewhere along the way and James didn't want to do that. The more thought he put into it the more he realised he was so helplessly in love with the girl he was at rock bottom and on his knees praising her like a goddess. She was a goddess, hopefully one day his goddess.

"Course, not James only joking," she said blowing him a kiss which he caught with a grin

Polaris said with a cackle making James laugh as she walked away "I'll see you tomorrow bye deary," She wasn't one for nicknames but for James she would make an exception. He was an exception.

As she walked back, she felt at peace with herself. Sure, she wasn't allowed to like him, but he was different. The way his smile lit up any room no matter the situation. His glasses frames slightly tweaked so they didn't sit on his face right only noticeable if he scrunched his nose. His hazel eyes demanding attention which Polaris would gladly give him. He was something real and a little crush never hurt anyone before. Right?
