0.4 (Pol we need to talk...)

The girl walked into the Gryffindor Tower with her cousin by her side. Polaris held in her hands a get well soon card and a chocolate frog for James. Sirius kept on insisting that it wasn't necessary and that James was one hundred percent fine, but Polaris didn't care. This felt like the right thing to do. Much to her surprise as she wasn't an affectionate person to people she wasn't familiar with usually. James had pushed her out of her shell and as soon as Polaris walked in James's smile grew instantly as she made her way over to him. She gave him the card and chocolate and he thanked her trying to hug her, but Sirius wasn't having it.

"Hands off Prongs" Sirius rolled his eyes making Remus smirk to himself. Remus was very close with Madam Pomfrey and she filled him in on all the gossip immediately.

"Next time don't be such an idiot, James Fleamont Potter," she said smacking his head and making Remus burst out laughing and Sirius howl. James groaned at the use of not only his middle name but also getting smacked on the head something he both deserved and expected

"Yeah, yeah I deserved that" he muttered as he rolled his eyes partially showing fake annoyance.

Nothing the girl did could ever annoy him. The way she exited was perfection to him. She was otherworldly and he wanted to learn anything and everything about her. James had missed out on so much by hating her, which regretted dearly. This girl had flipped his life upside down and he was thankful for that.

"As much as I love you guys touching Padfoot with this sickly-sweet lovey-dovey crap we have class so let's go," Remus spoke up sarcastically before leaving their dorm room

The others followed walking into class smiling and laughing leaving someone Polaris deeply cared about, not that she wanted to admit it, by himself for the moment so he could check out and walk to class only a few moments afterward.

"Welcome in students today we will be smelling the most powerful love potion in the world, settle down settle down." Professor Slughorn said excitedly extremely giddy to present such a potion to the students

Polaris smiled at James leaving Evan to feel a sort of bittersweet envy. Sure, he was proud of his friend for stepping out of her comfort zone, but he missed his best friend. Someone he was there for when no one else was. She had been his rock as well and he needed her desperately.

A line formed as the professor let the students smell the potion and state what they smelt to get credits for the lesson. As random students went by it was Evans's turn and Polaris paid close attention, curious to hear what he might say.

The boy had paused to take the aroma in before saying anything "I smell chocolate, books, and something else," blushing looking down and going back to his seat

Polaris smiled knowing exactly who he smelt in his potion to her it was obvious, however to everyone else they were perplexed. Evan wasn't ever seen talking to any girls and Polaris didn't match that scent at all.

"I smell lavender shampoo, chocolate, and fruit punch," James said with confusion, and a redhead behind him in shock, in all honesty, the entire class was quite shocked he didn't smell Lily Evans, sure they were aware of his newfound interests in Polaris White but no one thought they had a serious connection

Polaris blushed as she walked up to the potion. Her curiosity at what she would smell consumed her as she took a deep breath in. It was exactly as she thought. After hearing James smell her in the potion she knew exactly what she would smell. "I smell broom cleaner, cologne, and strawberries," she said smiling now it was James's turn to become flustered as he realized who she was talking about.

They had smelt each other. Years of hatred fizzled away as they smelt each other. They were each other's poisons. They would become each other's drug and addiction.

Finally, it was Remus's turn to state what he smelt class soon to be over. Each student was still extremely entuned to hear what the tall boy had to say.

"I smell a forest, fresh cut grass, and rain," he said confused but he didn't stress as he walked back to his seat getting ready to take notes on what the homework was going to be that night. Evan smiled to himself. He knew exactly who Remus had smelt. Just like he knew exactly who he had smelt. It was so obvious the poor boy thought he would melt right then and there but he had to control himself.

"Class dismissed next time we shall brew the potion," Slughorn said smiling as the student shuffled out of his classroom excitement still in the air

Polaris noticed Evan staying behind, so she walked up to him cautiously. She hadn't seen him in a few days and she felt immense guilt. She hadn't meant to ignore him, she just got so wrapped up in her own life she hadn't made time for him. She felt so selfish as he had always been there for her and yet she just disregarded him completely. Polaris had taken him for granted and she promised herself she would never do that again.

"Ev are you ok?" she asks as they walk out together her anxiety rippling through her chest

"Pol we need to talk," Evan said with a quiet tone his eyes glossed over as if he was trying to hold back tears. This was the moment he had been waiting for. Before he could even get a word out Polaris spoke up.

"I know our parents can't find out what we smelt I'll owl mine tonight and just say I smelt you," she said a few tears falling down her face.

Of course, she loved Evan but not like that. He was her guardian angel, her protector, he meant the world to her. He was the older brother she always wanted. The pair hugged crying silently as the hall was crowded and flooding with students trying to make it to their next class, never bothering to see what the pair were doing. Nobody could truly know the pressures they would have to endure for the rest of their lives due to the status of their blood.

Polaris felt as if she was in complete silence. The world's pressures fell gently yet heavily upon her shoulders, and she couldn't let herself be crushed by this. It was so silent yet suffocating it hurt yet she didn't feel weak. She stood there questioning her emotions, yet the feeling of love overwhelmed her as she remembered whose arms were around her at that moment. She almost wished it was his instead of Evan's.
