The Great Hall was filled with loud cheering and joy as students were informed of the upcoming Winter Ball. Talks of the Frozen Mascaraed have everyone smiling with such joy and hope. The students had the rest of the day to prepare for that night as the professors wanted everything to be super last minute. Quickly, Polaris smiled as she dragged Evan out and to the carriages to get to Hogsmeade.

"Ev, you have to help me get ready and pick out my dress," Polaris said excitedly

He just nodded and laughed at her excitement. The pair continued to talk for the rest of the ride, laughing and overall enjoying each other's presence. This was a very common occurrence for the pair, but it had been a while since they last hung out. Neither seemed awkward, though, even if it's been some time.

"Hey Polaris, there's something I need to seriously talk about," Evan says, making his demeanor go from open to small very quickly

"Yeah, of course Ev, what's up?" she responded concern in her voice. Many thoughts rushed into her head, worried about what could possibly be wrong

"I don't know how to say this, but well, I'm gay," he said, flinching worried about the response he was going to receive from his long-time friend.

He was always known as the playboy, but he had never felt comfortable in his own skin till now. He was proud to be gay and he was ready to come out to close friends. Not his parents as they weren't supportive and would never let him marry someone he loved. They wanted to keep the bloodline pure. Evan didn't care about those things. However, he was working on it from the years of training he received on how to act.

"Oh my gosh, Ev, I'm so proud of you for coming out, of course. I support you!" Polaris exclaimed, bringing her friend into a supportive and comforting hug as he cried tears of joy on his shoulder

"Thank you, it means so much you don't even know," He mumbled softly before pulling away and wiping his tears laughing as he saw Polaris was crying as well

"Cmon, let's go have fun shopping, and you need to share about Remus. I know you like him idiot" Polaris said, getting out of the carriage, making Evan gasp dramatically. He would not take such insult lightly especially when his best friend was correct.

"Rude, cmon, you little asshole let's get you a dress for Mr. Potter to enjoy, " he said with a wink, making Polaris gasp as well

The pair walk to Madam Malkins and see bunches of students doing last-minute shopping. Nobody had thought to prepare earlier on, and thus, the hunt began.

"Guess we have to be quick?" Polaris suggests grabbing Evans arm and running to the back of the store.

She grabbed a bunch of random dresses and went to a fitting room while Evan grabbed a marron suit and robes set. The first dress Polaris tried on she didn't like, sure it was pretty but it wasn't her style. It was a long green silky dress that was skin tight and showed a bit of cleavage and was overall uncomfortable. She had never worn something so out there before, and she didn't intend to start now.

"I hate it," She said, walking out laughing as Evan judged her dramatically. He had a blast being free and open to be himself around the girl.

"Hmm yeah no absolutely not next!" he exclaimed, making them both laugh before she tried on the next dress

This dress was a good one but not the one, It was a purple ballgown with flowers on it. It was beautiful, and she felt like a princess, but it didn't feel like it fit the theme. She'd probably purchase it anyways for a future ball her parents would drag her to.
