"We have a problem," stated Chief Ulf, "our stores of food are almost empty and winter is upon us. We will need to ration our food."
As the crowd murmured anxiously, Ulf thought, This may be the end of the Wanderers.

Meanwhile in the Hidden World...
Vast caverns, once filled with light and noise, were instead full of silence and dread. Dragons lay half submerged in any water they could find. The poison had done its work.

Ruffrunner knew he had to find a way to save the dragons, but he didn't know where to start. Over the past few days, he had tried to tell his human friend what he needed to do, but she just didn't seem to understand. He desperately missed his home and family, and wanted to fly back. But he knew that even if he could find his way back, he couldn't come back without a way to save them.

Walking through the village, Thyra noticed a few people staring at the dragon hungrily. The dragonet seemed to notice too, and nervously walked closer to Thyra. This famine can't go on any longer, she thought.
Suddenly, the bell rang. Rushing over to the noise, Thyra saw an extravagantly dressed round faced man.
"Who are you?" asked someone.
"I am but a simple trader, making my way through the world," he replied.
"Why are you here?"
"I am here to save you. I was passing by when I met your village elder, who described your dire situation. I have brought supplies for your dying people!"
The Wanderers cheered.
"Oh, but there is a cost."
"Name it!" said Ulf.
"I require something very rare, something very special."
"What is it?"
"A dragon."
Hundreds of eyes turned to Thyra and her little companion.
"No!" she shouted.
"It's for the good of the village." said Ulf.
"What do you want a dragon for?" asked Thyra.
"My business is none of your concern," stated the trader, "but I believe the survival of your tribe is. I will take good care of it."
Thyra knew she had to hand over the dragon, but it felt like giving away a part of her.
I hope this is the right decision, she thought...
