Salem
I didn't know what was going on or where we were. First we were running through a forest, then ended up in the hospital and now we are in some modern looking house. I really didn't care where I was, as long as I am in his arms I'm fine. He makes everything better.
Arielle
This all felt weird to me. After I talked more with Marcus, who I now call Mr. M, I tell him that we were both orphans, conveniently leaving them out. As much as I didn't want to lie to him, he couldn't know the full truth.
I was in utter shock when I was led to a really nice room.
Like an actual room. Yall seeing this shit?
The bed is a king sized one but it looked so small in the room. There is also a bookcase filled with books that I know I would be burying my nose in later. Giant nerd right here.
Also a lovely desk where I could homework, a nice closet and lost of cool paintings. Salem was put in a different room. Her room was similar but the colors were a softer pink and purple in contrast to the grey and black in my own.
All this for us despite the fact were were from the Thunder clan. Mr. M told us we had to keep that part a secret.
Greatest thing children don't get their pack mark until the age of 10 and she was only two going three, but that wasn't the case for me.
If anyone asks I should just say that I'm an orphan Alpha Marcus took from an Ally pack, specifically the River clan. All this for the small price of swearing my undying loyalty to the Shadow clan.
Nothing I can't pay. As scary as taking the oath is, it's my only option. Here seems safer than that house will ever be. I had put a sleeping Salem down on the bed and began to look around.
While I was flipping the pages in the book I found I saw Mr. M watching me, body leaning on the door frame a small smile on his face.
"This was Jeremy's old room." he makes the comment and starts to laugh when I make the face of a deer in headlights. "W-won't he be upset Mr. M?" I stuttered. "He moved himself to the pack house not me and so did Jake and Jayda." he shrugged.
I just nod. Thanks Jeremy you did me a favor my guy. You really did.
"That's not the only reason thought. Both Jayda and Jeremy are in the scouts so the council wanted them to live there. Younger alphas tend to stay there." I nod. I've always wanted to learn more about pack dynamics, it's really interesting.
"Well, I'll leave you both to it." he chuckled awkwardly then left.
I flopped down on the bed and stared at the sleeping child. She either has narcolepsy or just really loves to sleep. Just like me. Soon enough I passed out beside her.
.......
My brain didn't register the fact that we were safe and still decided to have me wake up at 3 am. But I have to say that is the best sleep I have got in years. Bored with nothing to do I, search through the drawers to find a shirt to wear.
Mr. M told me to wear whatever I could find until he got me and Salem new clothes. I then headed down stairs to clean and make breakfast. That's the least I could do.
It was always my old routine at home and I'd feel useless if I didn't. I made sure to not wake the two up with the noise that cleaning could cause.
After cleaning the house I walked into the kitchen to cook them some breakfast. I decided to make them some Avocado toast, whole wheat cereal, maybe fry up some bacon and add some fruits. Nothing too fancy. Fortunately there were all the ingredients I needed to cook.
By the time I brought everything out to the table Mr. M walked in. "Why are you up so early?" he yawned. His jet black hair was sticking up in every direction which I found really funny. "It's only 6 am though?" I asked puzzled.
"Don't you kids usually wake up around 9:30 or something? Even for me this is too early and I'm an adult with a job." he exclaimed.
"Bad habits...sorry.." I chuckled sheepishly. "Don't worry it's fine." he told me as he sat down in front of his plate.
"Jeremy could use a whole chapter out of your book Arielle, this is fantastic!" I felt good hearing that. At the expense of Jeremy's cooking skills though. Soon enough Salem came waddling down the stairs.
"Good morning everyone." she yawned. Her thick Italian accent coating her words. "Good morning sweetheart." I cooed as I walked over to guide her to her seat. She thanked me and begun to eat. I just stood there waiting for any orders.
"Aren't you gonna eat Arielle?" Mr. M asked me. What? Is he crazy? Usually I get lucky if something is left over but I've never been asked to eat at the same table as alphas. The only reason Salem got to live as good as she did at home was because she shifted at two years old, signaling that she is an alpha. I guess customs around here are different from the ones there.
"Am I supposed to?" I pondered.
Mr. M looked stunned for a bit as if I was joking. I really was confused. "Yes you are now come here and eat." he spoke firmly. I got myself a plate and went to eat.
Though out the breakfast Mr. M constantly told me how good it was and how the house looked like someone deep cleaned it. He also pieced together from my 'odd' behavior that I was the one who did it.
It felt so good to not be treated as a servant for once and be praised for my hard work.
That was strange....
