Chapter 31 - Elephant

Tears formed into my eyes. I was going to be a mother and Michael was going to be a father.. "Your baby seems really healthy, their heartbeat is normal" she smiled at me as she gave me napkins to remove the gel. "I- I didn't even know I was pregnant.." "Oh my- well that's a surprise there" she giggled "Well I always do these with my clients, you can choose a stuffed animal and we will put a recording of the heartbeat inside" she gestured at a shelf with plushies. An elephant, A pig and a bear. "I'll go with the elephant" "Alright i'll have that ready for you in just a bit" she logged off her computer and left the office with the plushed animal. This is insane.. how did it even survive after everything i've been through. How did I not notice this before? I rubbed my temples trying to think.

God, of course at the beach house. I had still many answers running throughout my head. The nurse came back with the elephant and handed it over to me. "I'll go call Dr.Fred-" the doctor came in "How is she?" "She's pregnant and the baby seems to be healthy" "So that's what was in those x-ray exams.." he looked through the papers as there was a white small blob. I widen my eyes and raised my eyebrows in shock. Whoever or whatever kept my baby safe I was forever grateful. How am I going to break this to Michael.

As I made my way out of the hosptial I rung up Henry. "Hello?" "Hey Henry, um can we meet up?" "Yeah of course what's up?" "Well it's something big and serious" "Let's meet up at Tony's burger place then yeah?" "Sounds good" "Bye" he hung up. I took a deep breathe and got into my car. "Well you must be hungry" I looked down at my small round stomach. I inserted the key into the ignition as the engine started. I drove out of the parking space and made my way to the burger place.

I parked next to Henry's car, as I see him through the windows already drinking a cup of coffee. I grab the elephant plushie and my belongings as I made my way inside. I sat in the booth in front of Henry "So what did you want to say" I handed him the elephant and he gave me a puzzled look. "Press the stomach" he did and heartbeat sounds came from the elephant "What does this have to do with something serious?" I chuckled a bit at his confusion.

I won't blame him though he's an old man. "Henry, I'm pregnant" "No.. no way" he began smiling as a few tears ran down his eyes "Michael's or-" "It's Michael's" "How time flies by" he sighs "I'm proud of you" "Thanks Henry" "Does mike know?" "No I don't know how i'm going to break it to him well.. because of his situation.." "Well.. best tell him soon" "Yeah I should get going now" "Take care of yourself and the baby" I nodded and smiled at him and left the Diner.

I drove to a baby clothing store. I know exactly how I was going to tell him. I enter and begin looking at the white and grey clothing. That's when I saw it. A baby bodysuit that read "You're going to be a daddy!" with red hearts. I paid for it and started heading back home.

I grabbed a gift box and neatly placed the shirt along with the elephant. "Here goes nothing" I made my way to the front door and opened it with my keys. The house was quiet silent. "Michael?!" I shouted but not answer. I went upstairs and opened the bedroom door and he was there lying on the floor past out. I dropped everything and went to him "Michael? Mike?!" I turned him over and his skin color began coming back. "What.." the room began spinning and spinning and it turned blurry till I felt my head hit the ground and everything turned black.
