Chapter 26

Ava

I lick at his mouth, the kiss slowing as I taste him. It's a savoring act. One that causes me to clench my thighs, and my knees to weaken. Chase cradles my face in his hands, his thumb brushing my cheeks with tenderness, that doesn't help my weakening knees.

To save myself from embarrassment, I pull away, on a panting breath. The look he wears, is almost enough to have me attacking his mouth again, but sound makes its way back to me ears, and the squealing, even from this distance is capable of ringing my ears.

I don't lean over to look around Chase, already knowing the octave of Jessica's voice just fine. Chase tilts his head, his lips renewing his earlier grin, as he glances at the squealing woman and his friends, with a shake of his head. He turns back to me, the corner of his mouth softening, in the way I've notice it does when he looks at me.

Possessiveness erupts inside me. He'll only look at me this way. No one else. Hands that I hadn't notice clutching his side, tightens. As if knowing my thoughts, Chase looks at me with satisfaction.

"Jess said, you're coming over today, for the pool party." He says the last bit almost reluctantly, with a playful roll of his eyes.

I raise a surprise brow.

"I don't remember agreeing with...Jess, to go anywhere."

Chase bites his lip. "Yeah, that tends to be the case with her. So got your swimsuit?"

As if he knew that the atrocious fabric currently sits inside my bag, he wears the look of a smug man.

I scowl, and he responds with a chuckle.

"I have things to do." I state matter-of-factly. I do need to head to the lab.

"I'll do them with you then, the others can head to the house, and get the barbeque started."

"Barbeque?" My brain muddles at his offer, fixating now on the fact that they were hosting a barbeque. Isn't that mainly for families on the weekend at block parties or something. Seeing my confusion, Chase elaborates.

"Jaden's idea. A celebration for something or another. But I guess with actually having something to celebrate, he's claim its for that, even though he had already planned to have it earlier in the week." Chase shakes his head, his hands that were once on my cheek, brushes down my body to wrap around my waist, tugging me closer.

He dips his head closer to mine, and my heart trips in my chest, and my stomach flutters. I stare up into his grey-blue eyes, lost once again. I wanted to have him. Here and now.

"If you don't want to go, I'll let them have the party, and celebrate later, but I'll like to spend the day with you Hazel Eyes. If that's okay with you. Please let it be okay with you."

I was sure this was some kind of manipulation tactic, the way he looked at me, with softened features, parted lips and a deep growling grumbling tone, that left me shuddering. My body heats.

I find myself nodding, before I could even get my mouth to operate.

I clear my throat. "We'll go to your celebration barbeque." Chase's face lights up, and his happiness is etched across every inch.

So much like that first time I had seen him, grinning and shining amongst a crowd that was drawn to him.

I clutch at him tighter. I clear my throat, trying to rid myself of my more innate instincts that Chase Montgomery seems to love triggering. It is in these moments that I am thankful for my suppressors.
