"I already told you" I stated, my tone increasingly becoming annoyed by every passing moment. I didn't need someone recognizing me and sending me straight to the cooler so you can understand why the fuck this guy was getting on my nerves. Having asked me the same question already three times, I was about ready to leave.

"Listen darlin', I just don't understand why and where you want to go" the guy standing in front of me had a tooth pick stuck in between his lips as his spoke. His dirty blonde hair was full of grease as he ran his hands full of motor oil through it. I internally cringed at this before taking a step back.

"Ya know what? Just forget it, I'll just drive until I get somewhere" with that, I turned and kept walking out of the auto shop until he called out to me.

"Just don't go taking any shortcuts or going down empty roads, ya hear?" I turned to face him once more, my face clearly full of confusion as I did. He only shrugged and left to go back to work.

Whatever.

Despite what the man told me though, I still somehow ended up trying to heed his warning. Yet, I still managed to end up in the middle of nowhere. Though as I drove, the idea of being found started to make my anxiety rise a bit. Along with speeding, it wasn't a good combination to begin with. My hands gripped onto the steering wheel as a loud siren started to go off behind me. My life at the moment just had bad luck and karma written all over it. Nonetheless, I Turned the steering wheel and parked off the side of the road. Praying that maybe my pretty looks could get me out of this mess.
I brush some black strands behind my ear and rolled down my window, coming face to face with a much older man. He had that stupid smug look on his face that most cops have when they catch some younger person they want to scare before just 'letting you off with a warning'. He tilted his head forward to get a good look at me over his sunglasses. My smile stayed frozen onto my lips before I spoke.

"What seems to be the problem?" I ask sweetly, my eyes softening  as I tried my best to give off the classic look of bullshit innocence. Much to my dismay, he also had a toothpick jammed into his mouth which he had spat out into my damn car. I blinked, still having that fake smile on as I mentally gagged at the reoccurring memory of him really spitting his toothpick out into my damn car.

"You 'er speeding down the road and let me tell you right now, that type of shit ain't allowed." He leaned in, closer to my face with each word. I backed away from him with each movement forward. I gulped as he took his glasses off and narrowed his eyes at me. "What'd you say yer name was?" He asked, examining me almost as if he had seen me somewhere else before. Well this couldn't end well..

"Names.." Juliette "Elaine...Elaine Lockhart" I replied, nodding to my answer to agree with the fact that yes sir, that's the name I go by. At least its the one I'm going by now. Though, the nod only seemed to make it out to be complete bullshit.

"License then...Elaine." He ordered, his hand resting on the edge of my window. Though hesitant, I nodded and turned to pull out my wallet that held the fake ID and license I had gotten made before hand. My stomach made me jerk back and hand him the license before quietly cursing myself out. The stitches hadn't bothered me much for the past day now. Then again, the stab wound was slowly healing now at this point. Last I was able to see it in a mirror, I at least got to see that it wasn't infected. I was going to have a nasty scar but I prefer that over..well you know- death.

I let out a small groan as I sat my self up a bit straighter. His eyes only briefly scanning the license. He only nodded and handed it back to me. My eyebrow quirked in confusion at this though. "Uhm, aren't you going to go scan it or something?" I ask, clearly dumbfounded as to what the fuck was he going to do about me speeding with just the look of my license. Though, as he leaned into my car again, I had my regrets about saying anything.
