Eric's gaze drifted toward Cristina and instantly caught that familiar look of hers—a leery, mocking stare accompanied by a stifled snicker. It was the same look she'd given him when she found out Lexie was living with him; the same look she always wore when she was obviously making fun of him. Eric knew immediately that she'd figured out his and Lexie's little secret.

He turned his gaze back to the breezeway and remained silent, slowly letting out a deep sigh, ignoring the resident beside him as Cristina continued trying to provoke a reaction. He could see her smug grin out of the corner of his eye.

"So you're keeping it a secret?" Cristina finally broke the silence, her voice dripping with amusement. She snickered, getting on Eric's nerves. His face twisted into an annoyed scowl.

"Let me guess," she went on, trying to suppress her laughter. "You're scared of Derek?"

Eric sneered as he glared at her.

"You've got that, uh..." Cristina pointed at him with mock concern. "That little vein popping out of your forehead."

"Derek Shepherd doesn't scare me," Eric snapped, swatting her hand away from his face. "And I don't have to tell him."

Cristina arched a brow. "What about Mer?"

Eric looked away, avoiding her gaze.

"No? Huh." Cristina's smirk widened. "Well, I would've heard about it if she knew. Maybe I should tell her."

Eric's eyes shot back to her, his expression shifting into panic. "W-what?" His voice cracked slightly, and his grin faltered. "No. You, you don't need to do that."

"She's her sister, you know. She should know."

"Don't!" Eric blurted, the word leaving his mouth faster than he intended. Cristina's eyebrows shot up.

"Seriously?" She tilted her head, studying his flustered expression. "Wait—" Her eyes lit up with realization, and she burst into laughter. "You're scared of Meredith Grey!"

"I—" Eric stammered. "Am not!"

Cristina's laughter grew louder at his denial. "Oh, this is gold!"

"I'll tell her," Eric insisted, his voice cracking. "Just—just not you."

"Chicken," Cristina quipped, grinning wickedly.

"I will tell her," Eric repeated, his glare sharpening.

"Buk," Cristina teased, mimicking a chicken.

"Yang," Eric growled through gritted teeth.

"Buk... ba-gawk!"

"Quit it!" Eric snapped, giving her a shove.

Cristina immediately shoved him back, and the two devolved into a series of immature jabs.

Just then, Callie and Lexie exited the ER, heading toward them. Callie's eyes narrowed in amusement as she took in the scene before her.

"The rigs are three minutes out," she announced as she approached them. "Two more incoming."

Eric and Cristina hastily pulled apart. Eric straightened his coat and stood still as though nothing had happened.

Cristina leaned closer to him and whispered one final time, "Chicken."

"Shut up," Eric hissed through clenched teeth.

Callie raised an eyebrow. "You two seem to be getting along."

"Uh, no," Cristina retorted.

"Yes, we're practically best friends now," Eric remarked sarcastically at the same time, flashing a fake smile. He wrapped an arm around Cristina's neck, and she immediately stopped laughing.
