She held his hand and recalled her past
She spoke of the father who had abandoned them and the sister she had lost
She spoke of the extent her father's betrayal destroyed her family
and of the trauma that ultimately consumed her mother!

She recalled all those years
She recalled her mother's distress at losing their first daughter
She told him about how Mahima had been kidnapped
And how their search never yielded any results.

He hugged her to his chest with one hand
the other one on the pram holding their child and let her cry her heart out,
his own heart thudding in pain at his inability to help her out!

But before anything further could be done or said,
the doctor rushed out and mentioned,
that the patient was a victim of abuse
her body had been too weak and hence now she was comatose!

The news devastated them
and they cried holding onto each other
she for the sister she had forever seeked
and he for the love he hadn't forgiven!
Because while he blamed her for destroying their world,
while he couldn't forgive her for abandoning their child,
while he couldn't forget her betrayal,
he still had enough humanity to sympathise with the woman who had once held his heart!

It was three days later
that they brought a comatose Mahima home
and that was when he had revealed,
she was the same woman whom he had once loved and who had left him all alone!

Shocked she had embraced him
unable to understand why both her sisters had turned out such
But she was too sympathetic
to blame a person who had already suffered!

Two years later was when Mahima had woken up
Emotional reunions, apologies and confessions had been made,
While they couldn't forgive, they learnt to live along,
for love and family were far more important than grudges and past mistakes held on!
